Rahul Dravid donated 35000 INR to Kanpur pitch groundsmen after INDvsNZ 1st test.
INDvsNZ 1st Test: The new Indian head coach, Rahul Dravid has started off his job perfectly with a complete white-wash in the T20I series followed by a pretty harsh draw to the 1st test match between India and New Zealand in Kanpur’s Green Park. Everyone says, Dravid is a different guy, he is not similar to anyone who has served the cricket in the past or at the current level. Well, proving that right, Rahul Dravid has donated a sum of INR 35,000 to the groundsmen of Kanpur’s Green Park stadium for preparing the sporting pitch.
It’s quite odd to compare one’s greatness with the donations he made but it matters a lot when nothing wrong has happened but still, someone cared and gave away gifts as a kind of appreciation for their work.
Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) made an announcement right after the match about the act of kindness from the Indian head coach.
“We would like to make an official announcement. Mr Rahul Dravid has paid Rs 35,000 personally to our groundsmen,” the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) announced in the press box after the game.
Experts reckon that the pitch prepared by the groundsmen was nearly perfect for a test match. They believe that the curators would have done rather differently if they wanted the match to get wrapped up within three or four days, however, it was not the case. They prepared the best of the surfaces that had enough for everyone who applied their proper techniques.

Shreyas Iyer, Shubman Gill, Tom Latham and Will Young were brilliant with their bat while the likes of Kyle Jamieson and Tim Southee exploited the surface to draw wickets. The spinners too got enough assistance from the pitch as they scalped as many as 20 wickets in the match.
India vs New Zealand 1st Test:
The first test match between India and New Zealand ended in a draw following a tight fight at the end. India were due to take one final wicket of New Zealand while the quota of overs for day five was completed and the sunlight did the rest of the work to draw the match.
The Indian origin Rachin Ravindra and Ajaz Patel fought hard and kept the wicket until umpires signalled for a call-off of the test match following bad light in Kanpur.
Indian debutant batter Shreyas Iyer was adjudged Player of the Match for his supreme century and a half-century in two respective innings against New Zealand.
Both India and New Zealand will now fly to Mumbai for the second test match, starting December 3.
