ENGvsIND: Team India’s head coach Ravi Shastri has tested covid positive on a lateral flow (covid-19) test on Saturday evening in London. He has been sent into isolation following the report while the entire Indian team has been cleared to play the test match following two negative reports.

Fielding coach R Sridhar, Bowling coach Bharat Arun and physiotherapist Nitin Patel are also placed in isolation as a precautionary measure by the medical team of team India.

“The BCCI Medical Team has isolated Mr Ravi Shastri, Head Coach, Mr B. Arun, Bowling Coach, Mr R. Sridhar, Fielding Coach and Mr Nitin Patel, Physiotherapist as a precautionary measure after Mr Shastri’s lateral flow test returned positive last evening,” stated BCCI in a release.

The statement further informed that the four isolated will remain in London and not travel with the Indian squad until the next assessment from the medical team.

The players have undergone two lateral flow Covid-19 tests since Shastri’s report came. All the players returned negative and hence were given clearance to play the ongoing test match.

“The members upon returning negative COVID reports were allowed to proceed for Day 4 of the ongoing fourth Test at The Oval.”

As of now, Team India has scored 291 runs in the loss of three wickets and gained a healthy lead of 192 runs on day four of the Oval Test. Skipper Virat Kohli and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja are tiring out the English pacers at the middle after Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara’s sensational partnership on day three.

Rohit Sharma – 127 runs

KL Rahul – 46 runs

Cheteshwar Pujara – 61 runs

Virat Kohli – 36 (not out)

Ravindra Jadeja – 17 (not out).
