RCB Dominates KKR in IPL 2025 Opener: Kohli's 400th Match Heroics Seal Thrilling Win at Eden Gardens!

IPL 2025 started with a match between defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Eden Garden Stadium in Kolkata. Batting first, KKR set a target of 174 runs. In reply, RCB chased the target in just 16.2 overs and started the tournament with a win, earning two points in the points table. Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain Rajat Patidar won the toss and invited the home team Kolkata to bat first, in response Kolkata started the innings well. KKR lost their first wicket in the form of Quinton de Kock in the very first over but after that, there was a 103-run partnership for the second wicket between Sunil Narine and captain Ajinkya Rahane.

Ajinkya Rahane played a brilliant innings of 56 runs in 31 balls with the help of six fours and four sixes, while Narine also scored 44 runs in 26 balls with the help of five fours and three sixes. Apart from these two, only Angkrish Raghuvanshi played an innings of 30 runs, no other batsman could take the responsibility of middle order and finishing, as a result Kolkata could score only 174 runs.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru chased the target of 174 runs in just 16.2 overs with seven wickets in hand and won the match. Virat Kohli, playing his 400th IPL match, played a brilliant innings of 59 runs in just 36 balls with the help of four fours and three sixes, while fellow opener Philip Salt also scored 56 runs in 31 balls with the help of nine fours and two sixes. Both the openers shared a 95-run partnership which made the run chase easy for RCB.
