The Indian Premier League trophy has eluded Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) since the tournament's inception in 2008. Since then, they have starred in 18 seasons. Across all the editions, RCB have played in 8 playoffs till now and have finished as the runners-up on three previous occasions, in 2009, 2011 and for the last time back in 2016. The last time the Challengers made it into the playoffs was in a heroic fashion, as they won 6 matches in a row to enter IPL 2024’s final four.

Seeing that this is the 18th season, RCB pinned their hopes on their most veteran batter, Virat Kohli, who was the only player from their core side after having left all the previous players.

2. AB de Villiers - ABD the man of big games for RCB, has been a star in IPL playoffs, as he went on to score a huge 268 runs with a strike rate of 146.44. 

3. Chris Gayle - RCB legend Chris Gayle has played the fewest matches of the playoffs with RCB; his last appearance was in the 2016 IPL final. Gayle secured 250 runs for RCB at a strike rate of 140.44. 

Most Wickets for RCB in IPL Playoffs:

1. Sreenath Aravind - Back in the early years of the IPL, Aravind picked 10 wickets, and his economy rate was impressive, at 7.75.  

2. Yuzvendra Chahal - RCB’s most successful bowler, having picked 100+ wickets with the same team in the IPL, Chahal has picked 9 wickets with an economy rate of 6.87. 

3. Harshal Patel - Harshal Patel has starred recently in just 2 IPL playoffs and has gone on to pick 6 wickets for RCB.
