RCB to target Jason Holder, Ambati Rayudu in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will be in limelight during the IPL 2022 Mega Auction, as the franchise has a bigger role to fulfil, which they haven’t encountered in the recent past. With Virat Kohli, no more willing to lead RCB, the franchise will look to rope in a captaincy candidate in the team from the auction table.
If the reports are to be believed, former West Indies skipper Jason Holder is likely to be rewarded handsomely during the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. In fact, Holder could probably turn out to be the most expensive player in the IPL 2022.
Sources who have their ear close to the RCB have claimed that the franchise will actively bid for Jason Holder and will stretch its bid up till INR 12 Crores due to his exceptional skill set.
Bangalore has retained Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell and Mohammad Siraj as their top three players.
The sources further told that RCB will also keep Ambati Rayudu and Riyan Parag on its radar. Rayudu was brilliant in the IPL 2021. The cricketer played a crucial role in Chennai Super Kings (CSK) success in the IPL 2021 with his consistent performances.
Riyan Parag, on the other hand, is young and can slam massive hits. Despite not performing consistently for Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the IPL 2021, RCB feels that the youngster has the potential to accelerate innings at the backend and can be groomed for future.

“For Holder, they have reserved Rs 12 crore and another Rs 8 crore for Rayudu and Rs 7 crore for Parag. If they spend Rs 27 crore approximately on these players, they would have another Rs 28 crore left,” a source informed PTI on conditions of anonymity.
“The core with Kohli, Maxwell, Siraj, Holder, Rayudu and Parag will be set. Let’s hope they can get two out of preferred three,” the source said.
It must be noted that Ben Stokes, Hardik Pandya and Marcus Stoinis were in RCB’s plans, however, all of them are unavailable for the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. While Stokes has pulled out of the tournament, Pandya and Stoinis have already joined their new IPL teams.
“Ben Stokes isn’t available, Hardik Pandya and Marcus Stoinis are taken. Mitchell Marsh you never know whether he can survive a full IPL with his injury prone career, Holder has been phenomenal if one looks at his record. RCB will like to go the distance as some others will also pitch in,”
It will be interesting to watch RCB’s auction strategy. The franchise has to bring in a potential captaincy candidate besides making a formidable squad that can be sustained for at least three years of the IPL.
Former Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper Shreyas Iyer is being looked as a strong captaincy candidate for RCB, however, it remains the question, whether they will be able to get him at the mega auction or not?
