Delhi Capitals (DC) missed the services of their premier batter, KL Rahul, for their opening encounter of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The match between the two teams took place on Monday (24th March) in Vishakhapatnam.

Delhi Capitals started the IPL 2025 on a high as they beat Lucknow Super Giants by just one wicket in a nail-biter. KL Rahul was all set to play the first game, but on the eve of the match, he had to rush back to Mumbai, hence getting ruled out of the match.

KL Rahul went back to Mumbai as he and his wife Athiya Shetty welcomed their first child on the day when Delhi Capitals played the match against Lucknow Super Giants.  Since then, there has been a lot of speculation about whether the batter will be playing the next game of the franchise against Sunrisers Hyderabad or not.

However, as per the reports in Times of India, it is learned that KL Rahul is all set to play the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The keeper-batter will be joining the Delhi Capitals squad soon and now will be available for all the games of the franchise.

KL Rahul joining Delhi Capitals will be a big boost for the franchise as their batting looked a bit fragile in the opening game. The India batter has been going through the rich vain of form and one of the major reasons why India won the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

KL Rahk looked superb in the middle order during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 and would be keen to carry on his same form in the IPL. The right-hander is expected to bat in the middle-order for Delhi Capitals and it will be a new challenge for him.

After the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, KL Rahul trained hard for the IPL 2025. The keeper-batter worked with Indian assistant coach Abhishek Nayar in Mumbai. He recently stated that he wants to make a comeback in the Indian T20I Team and IPL 2025 will be a great opportunity for him to put his case forward.
