Ricky Ponting applauds ball boy as he takes a stupendous catch during LSG vs PBKS IPL 2025 clash (watch video)

Punjab Kings (PBKS) registered their second win of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 after they beat Lucknow Super Giants by eight wickets at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Tuesday. It was a stupendous effort from the team as they were exceptional with the bat and ball. 

Asked to bat, Lucknow Super Giants didn't have the kind of start that they would've wanted as in-form batter Mitchell Marsh bagged a golden duck. Aiden Markram (38) looked in decent touch but he couldn't carry on the start that he had. 

Soon after, Rishabh Pant fell (2) too as Lucknow Super Giants was reduced to 35 for three. Nicholas Pooran (44) and Ayush Badoni (41) then brought the team back into the game with their 54-run stand for the fourth wicket. 

But their partnership also didn't last long as Punjab Kings (PBKS) kept taking wickets at regular intervals. Abdul Samad (27:12b, 2x4, 2x6) then played a brilliant cameo in the end and powered Lucknow Super Giants to a total of 171 for seven. 

Chasing the target, Punjab Kings (PBKS) lost Priyansh Arya early but Prabhsimran Singh (69) played a blinder to take his team off to a flying start. He, along with skipper Shreyas Iyer (52*), added 84 runs for the second wicket that put Lucknow under massive pressure. 

Impact player Nehal Wadhera (43*) played a vital hand as he and Iyer added an unbeaten 67 runs to take Punjab Kings (PBKS) home with eight wickets in hand. 

One of the eye-catching moments from the game came in the 14th over. On the last ball of the over, Ravi Bishnoi bowled a full around off, googly to Nehal Wadhera and the left-hander blasted it over wide long-on for a massive six. 

The ball boy, who was stationed there, took a brilliant running catch. While it seemed a normal catch, PBKS head coach Ricky Ponting was left amazed by it. He was seen applauding the young boy and the video went viral.
