Rishabh Pant, the flamboyant, left-handed batter of the Indian Cricket Team, met with an unfortunate accident. This accident led to him injuring his back, forehead, and some other minor injuries. From the images that were grabbed, it can be said that Rishabh will be grateful to have escaped with manageable injuries. But the Indian cricket team and its games will never stop. So, with Rishabh likely out of action for a few months, who will replace him as a keeper-batsman in the Indian Cricket Team? Not to forget that Rishabh is a number 5 batter, which means that the team treats him as a proper batter. Here is a look:
KS Bharat can Replace Rishabh Pant:
KS Bharat can certainly be the replacement for Rishabh Pant. The wicket-keeper has been piling on the performances in the domestic leagues. Season after season he is doing what he does best, scoring runs. Bharat was expected to be the Indian keeper post the Wriddhiman Saha era but his performances went in vain after he was struck by a storm named “Rishabh Pant”. Bharat has been traveling with India A squad for a very long time. Bharat has experience playing on the global stage as he has also been an integral part of the IPL for a few years. Here is a look at his domestic stats:
Games | 84 |
Runs | 4533 |
Average | 37.33 |
Highest | 308 |
Ishan Kishan can Replace Rishabh Pant:
There is always a word around Ishan Kishan making it to the red-ball side. If Indian cricket has to go towards the “Bazzball” direction, players like Ishan need to be given opportunities. Surya is also one such name but that is for the latter. Vivek Razdan and Ajay Jadeja while commentating for the Sony TV Network were very adamant about making Ishan a part of the red-ball circuit. He has a similar style of play to Pant. He brings with him a similar swash-buckling approach and sheer dominance while on the field.
Sanju Samson:
Sanju Samson is a senior pro. It is unfortunate that the man is not getting the opportunities he has always deserved. He is a prolific batter and a very good keeper. He has been an asset to the Kerala Cricket Association and has groomed the young man very well. Sanju isn’t in the scheme of things for red-ball cricket but with such emergency circumstances asking for it, he can easily be drafted to the team.
