Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper Rishabh Pant is having a hard time as a captain of the team in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The keeper-batter is on the verge of getting banned for one match in the ongoing edition of the tournament.
Delhi Capitals are having a tough time in the ongoing IPL 2024 under the leadership of Rishabh Pant. The franchise so far hasn’t been able to make a mark in the tournament has lost three out of their four games and is reeling 9th on the points table.
Delhi Capitals suffered two back-to-back losses in their opening two games in IPL 2024 but they made a strong comeback. The Rishabh Pant-led defeated Chennai Super Kings and it seemed that they have found their mojo back in the league.
But it wasn’t the case as Kolkata Knight Riders thrashed them by a massive 106-run. While the batting of Rishabh Pant after the horrific accident has impressed many, the keeper-batter has come under immense pressure for his team’s failure so far in IPL 2024.
To worsen the case Delhi Capitals also have faced fine for the slow rate after the game against KKR. Skipper Rishabh Pant was docked with INR 24 lakhs whereas his other teammates were fined with INR 6 lakhs or 25% match fees, whichever is less.
Rishabh Pant to be banned for one IPL game if Delhi Capitals faces another over-rate penalty
This was Delhi Capitals’ second offence in the IPL 2024. Skipper Pant was earlier fined INR 12 lakhs after the game against Chennai Super Kings. The keeper-batter now has two offences under his belt and is under scanner.
If Delhi Capitals commit another offence of slow over-rate in any of their upcoming games, then skipper Rishabh Pant will be banned for one game in the IPL. The keeper-batter would be under immense pressure now apart from games he needs to make sure that Delhi bowls overs on time.
