Rishabh Pant should be India’s first choice wicketkeeper for the England tour: Wriddhiman Saha.

Indian 23-years old Cricketer, Rishabh Pant is in a red hot form over the past couple of months. After the tour of Australia, Pant with his scintillating batting performances and with much better calculations behind the stumps became the owner of the most discussed debate of the country over who should keep the wickets for India in the red ball cricket between Wriddhiman Saha and Rishabh Pant.

Recently, Wriddhiman Saha himself admitted that for the tour of England, Pant should keep the wicket and should be the first choice option for the slot.

India will tour England in June for a marquee final of the ICC World Test Championship, starting June 18 and the subsequent India-England Test series. Pant will be raring to be on the field as soon as possible due to his recent forms in cricket.

In the presence of Pant, veteran wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha is highly unlikely to take the field. Saha said that he will wait for the opportunity if it arises anytime soon.

“Rishabh Pant played the last few matches of the World Test Championship, he’s done well and he should be our first-choice keeper in England. I would just wait, and if any opportunity arises, I will give my best. I will keep practising for that one chance,” Saha told Sportskeeda.

The young gloveman replaced Saha after the failure in the Adelaide Test. Saha could only manage to score nine runs and four runs in both the innings of the Adelaide Test in which India lost by eight wickets after getting bundled for 36.

“I try to be the same irrespective of the situation. Whether I am performing or no, I don’t see any change in myself, no idea if others around me spot anything different. We can only try to perform – sometimes it clicks, sometimes it doesn’t – and the management takes the call based on all these parameters,” the wicket-keeper added.

Currently, the Indian outfit is undergoing their mandatory two weeks quarantine in Mumbai before heading out to board flight for the UK. The team will serve another quarantine upon reaching Southampton, UK.
