Rohit Sharma advised cutting weight by 5-6 KG to reduce stress on hamstring and knee: Team India’s new white ball skipper Rohit Sharma has been advised to cut down on his body weight by around 5-6 KG by the National Cricket Academy (NCA) experts. The cricketer has responded to the advice pretty quickly and has begun his fitness regime to get in better shape.

Sharma missed the ongoing India tour of South Africa due to his hamstring injury. The cricketer sustained the injury a few days prior to India’s departure to South Africa. He couldn’t pose himself fit for the ODI series as well.

Moreover, Rohit had to miss a couple of games in the IPL 2021 and the Australia series due to his hamstring injury which has bothered the cricketer often.

The trainers at the NCA have put up a solid training program for India’s white-ball skipper to regain his fitness and reduce excess weight from his hamstring and knee. He is currently at the NCA and is undergoing rigorous training with the plans put forth for him.

Recently, Shikhar Dhawan posted a picture on his social media with Rohit Sharma and Bhuvneshwar Kumar in which the white ball skipper looked in a good shape.

Apart from Sharma, Dhawan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel and wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson were also seen in the NCA.

Jadeja sustained a left-arm injury during recent India vs New Zealand test series. He is also completely ruled out of the South Africa tour while Axar Patel is also not fit.

It must be noted that in Rohit’s absence, KL Rahul has been handed over the reins of team India. Rahul will lead India in the three-match ODI series against South Africa.

Interestingly, Rahul also debuted with Test Captaincy during the 2nd Test Match against South Africa as Virat Kohli was ruled out of the match due to an upper back spasm.
