Rohit Sharma, the Indian Cricket captain has his own way of expression. He might not be a very calm captain like MS Dhoni, and he might not be very expressive like his friend and former captain Virat Kohli. But over the past few years, we have seen him expressing his emotions on the field in multiple ways. One such moment was caught on camera in the India VS Australia 4th Test match. It was a seemingly fun moment between Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan but the same was blown out of proportion by Twitter.
Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan Incident:
This incident occurred in the 60th over of the first innings of the 4th Test Match. The match is being played at the Narendra Modi Stadium. It was Ravindra Jadeja who was about to start his spell. When Ishan Kishan showed up and offered a drink to skipper Rohit Sharma. While moving back to the pavilion, the drink slipped from Kishan’s hand, and Sharma was seen enraged (rather playfully). He imitated slapping Kishan. It was visible that the gesture was an act of fun. But Twitter, being Twitter, targeted Rohit Sharma for “disrespecting” and “manhandling” the junior players.
Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma News:
One such moment was also captured in the Indore test match where Rohit and Ishan Kishan were having fun on the field. In the second innings of the test match, Rohit was giving very animated instructions to Ishan Kishan. It was evident from the hand gestures that Rohit wanted batters like Pujara to hit over the in-field and score quick runs. This message was conveyed on-field via the 12th man, Ishan Kishan.
Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma have great camaraderie. The duo has been playing together for the past 6 years. Ever since Ishan Kishan joined the Mumbai Indians, he has been an integral part of the squad and is Rohit’s friend. In a recent fun interview uploaded by the BCCI, it was seen that Ishan and Rohit indulged in verbal banter. Rohit asked Ishan playfully about why he was dropped even after scoring a double hundred in the game against Bangladesh.
Ishan Kishan To Make Test Debut:
In the absence of Rishabh Pant, Ishan Kishan has a good chance to make his test debut. The Indian team is currently backing KS Bharat, but he is under scrutiny by the fans. Bharat and his batting skills are under the scanner. Rishabh Pant was more like a batter and wicketkeeper. His primary job was to bat at number 5. The Indian fans are hence asking for Ishan Kishan’s debut, who is a better batter than KS Bharat. India’s next test is the WTC final if the team qualifies, so it will be great to see if Kishan gets picked for that game.
Here is what Rohit Sharma had to say about this in the pre-match press conference, “If you want to play on pitches like these, you have to be ready for guys failing in some innings. You got to back these guys. That’s what we are doing with KS. He has the experience, he is a good keeper. I spoke to Ishan (Kishan) as well, and even when he gets his chances, he will also get several games. We won’t drop him after two matches. That’s unfair. That’s what we are doing with KS Bharat now”.
