Rohit Sharma has showered praise on R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. The India VS Australia 2023 Test series resulted in a 2-1 India victory. In the post-match press conference Rohit Sharma, the Indian skipper had a lot of words of praise for the dynamic spin duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin. Rohit Sharma: “Ashwin and Jadeja’s Shoes Are Big Ones to Fill”:
Rohit Sharma in the post-match press conference had to say the following about the dynamic duo, “Both of them are marathon performers for us. They know exactly how to get the job done, especially in this part of the world. You give them the ball; they’ll give you those breakthroughs. With the bat, they give us crucial runs. They are important players for us. A large part of our success belongs to those two guys. Obviously, it’s not just for a few years but for a decade. Those shoes will be big ones to fill. For the sake of Indian cricket, I hope they play for a long time.”
Rohit Sharma expects Jaddu and Ashwin to play for at least 4 more years. But that looks a little difficult. Rohit Sharma did shower heaps of praise on the duo, but age is not on their side.
Ravindra Jadeja is currently 34 and will be playing for at least 3 to 4 more years. R Ashwin on the other hand has a little lesser time as he is aged 36. The Indian cricket team will now have to look for players who can be groomed in the absence of R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. Some names that come to mind include Saurabh Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav, and Dharmendrasingh Jadeja.
Ravindra Jadeja and R Ashwin Dominate Against Australia:
Both spinners are elite performers. But the duo become more lethal against Australia. R Ashwin has taken 114 of his 474 wickets against the Australian team. Ravindra Jadeja on the other hand has taken 85 of his 264 wickets against the Kangaroos. The duo has complete dominance over the Australian. R Ashwin has also asserted dominance over David Warner by getting him out 10+ times in test cricket. Another such common victim was Ed Cowan, another Australian opener. Jadeja on the other hand is a menace for right-handed batters. His strength is consistently bowling at one particular spot and a faster pace.
