World Cup 2023: The skipper of Team India Rohit Sharma is a veteran batter known for his aggressive and impactful batting style. In a recent interview, Rohit Sharma revealed the name of the bowler, who is the toughest to face for him.
The Indian Captain Rohit Sharma has named Dale Styne as the toughest bowler to face. He revealed that the South African Gun bowler has created challenges for Rohit but he enjoyed facing them.
Rohit Sharma on Dale Styne
Rohit said, “If a bowler who has ever challenged me and I enjoyed playing against him, then I’ll have to say Dale Steyn. He is a class player, he got all the skills and I think this is the reason he doesn’t miss a bounce.”
He also talked about Styne’s pace and swinging abilities. He praised Styne and stated that he is the one who can bowl 140+ KPH balls and swing it as well and not everyone can do it.
“He can swing so fast and I think there are very less people who could swing 140+ and I think he was the one who could do it consistently,” he added while talking to Vimal Kumar on his YouTube channel.
The India skipper added that Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli are, respectively, the top players to play scoop shots and cover drive respectively. He continued by mentioning Shubman Gill as a young star who displayed immense promise and ability.
Rohit Sharma stated that India’s Sachin Tendulkar plays the finest straight drive, while Ricky Ponting, who led Australia to ICC Cricket World Cup victories in 2003 and 2007, is the master of pull shots.
Surprisingly, the South African star admitted afterwards that, during his illustrious career, bowling to the India opener was not at all easy and that he only sometimes succeeded in eliminating him. However, Styne warned Rohit Sharma when he mentioned the top 5 bowlers to watch out for in the World Cup 2023 and said “Rohit Sharma, watch your pads!“.
Rohit is the only player to have 5 centuries in a single World Cup Tournament. He accomplished the feat in the ODI World Cup 2019 where he finished as the highest run-getter of the tournament.
Rohit has 3 double-hundreds in his ODI career and possibly more to come! He has scored a total of 10,112 runs in 251 ODIs including 30 hundreds and 52 half centuries. The highest score of Sharma in an inning is 264.
