Rohit Sharma reflects back on Mumbai Indians’ pale IPL season in 2022: Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Rohit Sharma recently took a backseat to reflect upon their journey in the recently completed Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) season fifteen. The veteran cricketer does accept that though, things didn’t pan out the way they wanted, there were several positives which they can be proud of.

The five-time IPL champions experienced one of their worst ever IPL seasons. Not only did they fail to get a playoff seat but also registered an unwanted record against their name. Mumbai became the first team in the history of the tournament to lose eight games on the trot at the start of the IPL.

After the league stages, Mumbai were languishing at the bottom of the points table with mere 4 wins. However, it’s noteworthy that MI did fairly well to overcome its weaknesses in the last six matches.

The MI skipper Rohit Sharma emphasised how the side stuck together through the thick and thins of the entire season.

“It was an unexpected season but we do want to reflect on the learnings and the positives. It was great to see how the team stuck together and backed each other. Now it’s about how we look at the next season and how we prepare. We managed to end on a high and that was important for us. We are gonna come back stronger,” said Rohit Sharma was quoted by Zee News.

“The unity in the team is a good sign. I didn’t see any of them give up. We stayed together as a family. They were trying their best in training and I am proud of that. The camaraderie in the team has been excellent. We had one goal and everyone was working towards it,” he added.

The 35-year old cricketer also reserved high praise for young players in the team who showed great confidence and played sensible cricket. The likes of Tilak Verma, Dewald Bravis and Tim David were a few bright spots for Mumbai in an otherwise disappointing season in IPL 2022.

“Some of them are going to be gun players in the future. Them putting their hand up and giving their best was the most pleasing part of the season,” Rohit added.
