India captain Rohit Sharma rubbished off the retirement rumours after winning the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The skipper openly mentioned that he won't be retiring anytime soon and will be playing till the time he will be enjoying. 

Since the time Rohit Sharma quashed the rumours related to his retirement, there have been a lot of speculations about when the India captain will play. But, as per the reports in Cricbuzz, it is learned that the opening batter has set his eye on the ICC World Cup 2027. 

As per the reports, it is learned that Rohit Sharma is all set to extend his career till 2027. The India captain is all set to retire from international cricket after the ICC World Cup 2027, which will be played in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. 

Rohit Sharma will be 40 by the time ICC World Cup 2027 starts and as per the reports, it is learned that the India skipper has devised a plan to remain fit for the marquee event. He will be working with assistant coach Abhishek Nayar to focus on his fitness, batting and approach. 

India will be playing 27 ODIs in the lead-up to the ICC World Cup 2027. The games will be used by Rohit Sharma to prepare for the event. But everything will be up to Abhishek Nayar, who is regarded as a highly intelligent coach and has worked with several Indian stars in their progress.

The reports also added that there is no clarity related to the future of Rohit Sharma in Tests. The premier batter has expressed his desire to play both Tests and ODIs, but considering his poor form in the longest format of the game, there will be questions. 

A source close to the developments claimed that Rohit Sharma's future in Tests will be decided after the IPL 2025. If the India captain looks in good touch during the league then there are chances that he might be there for the team in the Test series against England.
