The latest reports in Dainik Jagran and Ray Sportz have made a massive claim. It is learned that if Rohit Sharma fails to get going in the last two games of the series then there are chances that he might pull out of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 to allow youngsters to take the platform.
It is learned that if that happens then Hardik Pandya will be asked to lead the team. Shubman Gill, who is the vice-captain, will continue in his role, and the all-rounder will be the one taking over the leadership, considering his experience as a captain.
If the reports are to be believed, then, it will be a massive step in Indian cricket history. The premier batter recently opted out of the last game of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 due to poor form. He allowed Shubman Gill to return to the team and handed leadership to Jasprit Bumrah.
The next ODI against England is all set to take place on 9th February at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, Odisha. If Rohit Sharma scores in the next game then it will be a great boost for the team for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
