Rohit Sharma‘s Test Captaincy in Danger? West Indies series may be his last if… says Reports: After India was defeated in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final 2023 against Australia at Kennington Oval Cricket Ground, London, Team India has no matches for one month. After that, they will go on the West Indies Tour, playing two test matches, Three ODIs, and Five T20Is. 

As per the Reports by PTI, Rohit Sharma will be captaining the two matches test series, which will kick off on July 12th in Dominica. After this series, Rohit Sharma will have to talk with the selectors about his future as test captain. 

If Rohit didn’t perform in the series against West Indies, then he might be removed from the test captaincy position. Rohit was struggling with his form as he didn’t made runs in the IPL 2023 then now, WTC Final 2023, it is now over the 2 years Rohit wasn’t in good form.

After the WTC Final 2023 Defeat, Rohit was criticized by many Cricket Experts like Sunil Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri, and Sachin Tendulkar, who condemned his decision of not taking Ravichandran Ashwin in the WTC Final. He was criticized for the three-match series to decide on the WTC Final winner. 

Top BCCI Official on Rohit Sharma’s future:

“Speculations like Rohit might get removed from test captaincy are baseless. Yes, there is a discussion about his alternative who can lead team India test cricket as he might not play the whole two-year WTC cycle. He is nearly 38 when WTC Cycle 2023-25 ends in 2025,” a BCCI official told PTI.

“Shiv Sunder Das and his colleagues will take a call on Rohit After the two Test matches series against West Indies and by keeping in mind his batting form. After the West Indies Tour, There are no test matches till this December-end when the team travels to South Africa.”

“So, Selectors will have enough time to make a decision. By then, the fifth selector (new chairman) will also join the selection committee, and after that, a decision can be taken,” he added.
