RR vs MI: Rajasthan Royals (RR) leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, on Monday, April 22, etched his name in the history books of the Indian Premier League (IPL) after he became the first ever player to pick 200 wickets in the league. Chahal is the first bowler to reach the milestone of 200 wickets as he got the scalp of Mohammad Nabi in the ongoing match between Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians.
After being introduced against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur in the eighth over of the first innings, Chahal took just three balls to provide a breakthrough. The leggie bowled a conventional leg spin at middle and leg to outfox Nabi, who looked to flick it only to pop it up in the air towards Chahal.
The spinner comfortably took the catch and completed his 200th IPL wicket in his 153rd match.
Notably, Chahal is also the highest wicket-taker in IPL history. He went past the likes of Dwayne Bravo, last year, in the list of players with the most wickets in the IPL.
With 200 wickets in 153 IPL outings, Chahal sits at the top of the most wicket table. He is followed by Dwayne Bravo, who has retired from the IPL at 183 wickets in 158 innings, and Piyush Chawla.

RR vs MI: Mumbai manages to recover after RR’s early blows
After losing three wickets cheaply inside the powerplay, Mumbai Indians (MI) got stock of the situation and did the rescue work. The likes of Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav were removed early on in the innings at a score of 20 runs.
However, young Tilak Varma and Nehal Wadhera took the opportunity to do some rebuilding work, before firing up the stadium with their blitz knocks.
Nehal Wadhera played a sensational knock of 49 runs in 24 deliveries which included four sixes and three boundaries. The batter, though, couldn’t complete his well-deserved half-century as he tried to accelerate the run-rate.
As MI looked poised for a big total with a 99-run partnership between Wadhera and Varma, they began losing wickets on the bounce. RR pounced on the opportunity with the wicket of Nehal Wadhera and subsequently got rid of Hardik Pandya, Tilak Varma, Gerald Coetzee and Tim David in the next few overs.
Varma was dismissed after a well-made 65 off 45 deliveries which included five fours and three maximums.
In 20 overs, Mumbai Indians managed to put up 178 runs in their quota of 20 overs in the loss of nine wickets.
