Rajasthan Royals (RR) skipper Sanju Samson talked about his competition with Mumbai Indians (MI) keeper Ishan Kishan for a place in the Indian team. He said that he doesn’t like to compete with anyone and his only focus is on himself.

Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan are two of the finest keeper-batters going around in Indian cricket. The duo has been playing consistent cricket over the past few months and is fighting for the spot in the Indian team for the T20 World Cup 2024.

Both Samson and Ishan Kishan have looked in tremendous form in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. While the Rajasthan Royals skipper has scored 276 runs, Kishan on the other hand has played brutal cameos at the top, scoring 192 runs.

The keeper-spot in the Indian team is keeping everyone excited. With the kind of performances, Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan are putting up, it’s fair to say that BCCI selectors will have a keen eye on them for the T20 World Cup 2024.

Both Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson will be up against each other in the IPL on Monday (22nd April). Rajasthan Royals will be taking on Mumbai Indians and all the spotlight will be on the two keepers of both teams.

Samson was asked about competition with Ishan Kishan. The RR skipper stated that he respects Kishan, who according to him is a great keeper and batter. He, however, stated that he doesn’t compete with anyone. Speaking to Star Sports, he explained:

“I really respect Ishan, he is a wonderful player, a great keeper, good batter, great fielder as well – I have my own strength and weakness, definitely, I don’t compete with anyone.”

Sanju Samson further stated that he only likes to compete himself. According to him, competition with teammates isn’t a great thing for the team. He elaborated:

“I just like to compete with myself and playing for the country and win the game, competing with each other in the same team is not a healthy thing to have”.

Apart from the batting perspective, Sanju Samson is having a great time as a skipper for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL. His team is at the top of the table and are looking favourites to qualify for playoffs.
