Sanju Samson leaves Rajasthan Royals after the win against Chennai Super Kings for...
Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson has left the franchise after the game against Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The keeper-batter has gone to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Centre of Excellence (CoE) to get the fitness clearance.
Sanju Samson will be seeking clearance on whether they can keep wickets for the further part of the league. The Rajasthan Royals skipper played as an impact player in the first three games and only played as a batter, with Riyan Parag leading the team in the initial games.
Sanju Samson didn't keep wickets in the first three games because he wasn't fit 100%. Although he recovered from the finger injury that he faced in the England series the medical team didn't allow him to keep wickets in the first three games.
He will seek clearance to do so for the remaining games and is expected to be back as skipper from the RR's next match - Source
Sanju Samson will be undergoing testing at the Sport Science wing at the CoE and if the results come good, he will be allowed to keept wickets and lead the team for rest of the season. The reports in Cricbuzz stated that he has recovered fully from the injury and will be getting clearance soon.
The source said: "He will seek clearance to do so for the remaining games and is expected to be back as skipper from the RR's next match, which is nearly a week away."
Sanju Samson started the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on high. The Rajasthan Royals skipper slammed a magnificent fifty in the first game against Sunrisers Hyderabad, playing an innings of 66 runs but his effort went in vain as the team went on to lose the game.
In the next two games, Sanju Samson failed to get going as he slammed 13 against KKR and then 20 against Chennai Super Kings. In his absence, Dhruv Jurel took the keeping gloves and did a fantastic job for the team. But he is now expected to give the gloves back to skipper Samson.
