Shikhar Dhawan on the verge of creating an all-time IPL record
Indian batter Shikhar Dhawan has been a stalwart in the Indian Premier League. From time to time, the opening batter has delivered some spectacular performances and has put his team in the prime position. It’s fair to say that he has been one of the greatest to have played in the league.
Shikhar Dhawan has played for 5 franchises in the league and has played an instrumental role in their success. However, since the last few seasons, the senior batter has flourished and has developed a reputation as the most consistent batter in the league.
Dhawan is the second-highest run-getter in the IPL. The batter has amassed 5784 runs to his name to go with 2 hundreds and 44 half-centuries. The southpaw has been going through a purple patch in the league since 2016 as he has piled up over 400 runs in each season and has taken his team to great heights.

The batter is now on the verge of creating an all-time IPL record. If he managed to surpass 400 runs this season as well then will become the first player in history to score 400 runs in 10 different seasons. The batter current has achieved the feat 9 times so far in the league. Apart from the seasons between 2016 and 2022, he piled up over 400 runs in 2011 and 2012.
Dhawan will now captain Punjab Kings in this year in the IPL. He was appointed skipper after the franchise released Mayank Agarwal. With the way he’s going, he can easily achieve the feat in the league.

Punjab Kings will resume their hunt for the maiden IPL title when the 16th edition of the league will begin. The Shikhar Dhawan-led side will open their campaign against Delhi Capitals on the 1st April. They had a decent auction this time around. They have quite a few all-rounders in the team and they would be hoping to clinch their maiden title this around. They have a good combination of young and veterans in the side and it’s fair to say that if they play to their potential they can win their maiden title this time.
