Shocking! Mohammed Shami all set to be dropped for England tour due to...

India National Cricket Team pacer Mohammed Shami is unlikely to be part of the five-match Test series against England National Cricket Team. As per the reports in Indian Express, it is learned that the pacer is all set to be dropped from the team for fitness issues.

As per the reports, it is learned that the BCCI medical team has told the selectors that Mohammed Shami won't be able to bowl longer spells in the England series. The Test series between the teams is all set to take from 20th June at the Headingley in Leeds.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is all set to announce the squad for the Test series against England this week. The reports claimed that there were discussions about Mohammed Shami being taken to England for a few games, but with Jasprit Bumrah not expected to play more than three games, selectors came under dilemma.

They believe that it makes no sense to take half-fit Mohammed Shami, who might only play a few games. The reports claimed that selectors want fit bowlers flying with the Indian side, who can bowl longer spells if needed.

Board and selectors don’t know whether he can bowl more than 10 overs in a day - BCCI source on Mohammed Shami

The source close to the developments claimed that Mohammed Shami has been struggling with fitness in the IPL, where he bowls just 4 overs. Hence, selectors aren't sure if he can bowl more than 10 overs in a day. Speaking to Indian Express, he said:

"Shami is bowling four overs in IPL for Sunrisers Hyderabad but the board and selectors don’t know whether he can bowl more than 10 overs in a day. Test matches in England may demand longer spells from the pacers and we can’t take chances,”

Mohammed Shami last played for India in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. However, in that tournament too, he struggled. His last Test appearance was during the final of the ICC World Test Championship against Australia in 2023. If he won't be part of the England series, it will be massive development and a big blow for India.
