Young Indian opener Shubman Gill opens up on the difference in approach of India’s two modern-day Cricket gems, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. He explains the difference in batting with Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

Gill who has shared the dressing room with both Rohit and Virat said that the skipper focuses on the mindset and positive approach towards the game while when he is batting with Rohit Sharma, the discussions are more on the bowler’s strategy and situations.

“Virat bhai tells me to play fearlessly whenever we speak about the game. He speaks about mindset a lot, that you have to be in a good frame of mind when you go out to bat and share his experiences,” said Shubman Gill.

“And when I am batting with Rohit bhai, we usually discuss where the bowlers will bowl, what the situation is like, depending on that, when to take risk or not,” Gill added.

The young Punjab cricketer is named in India’s Test squad for the England tour and will probably come out with Rohit Sharma to open the innings in Southampton.

Gill has seven test appearances so far after making his debut against Australia in 2020 at MCG. He played a crucial role in India’s triumph in Australia in the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21.

When further asked about the conditions and the plans countering the New Zealand attack, Gill replied, “In England whenever there is cloud around, the ball swings more and when the sun is out, it gets easier to bat. It is important to assess those conditions as an opener.”
