Originally constructed for the 2007 Cricket World Cup, where it hosted Super 8 matches, the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium is set to shine once again after 17 years. In the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, this iconic Antigua venue will feature prominently, hosting eight crucial group stage and Super 8 matches.

While the stadium typically accommodates 10,000 spectators, its capacity was temporarily doubled for the 2007 World Cup. The architectural layout includes two primary stands: the Northern Stand and the five-story South Stand. In a tribute to cricket legends, the north and south ends were renamed in honor of Sir Curtly Ambrose and Sir Andy Roberts before the start of the first Test against England on April 13, 2015.

Sir Vivian Richards Stadium

The Sir Vivian Richards Stadium boasts an excellent cricket wicket, striking a fine balance between aiding both batsmen and bowlers. Initially, the pitch offers a fair contest, but as the match unfolds, bowlers gain a slight edge due to the pitch’s gradual slowdown, making timing challenging for the batsmen. Despite this, spectators can look forward to an equitable duel between bat and ball. The toss-winning team might strategically opt to bowl first, setting themselves up for a manageable chase later on.
