Skipper Rohit Sharma to be available for the Limited over series against West Indies. Team India’s newly appointed skipper of the white ball team, Rohit Sharma, is likely to be available for the upcoming limited-overs series against West Indies. Sharma missed the recently concluded Test and ODI series against South Africa, which India lost, owing to a hamstring injury.
The reports suggest that Rohit Sharma has gained complete fitness and is all set to step back in the field of cricket during the upcoming ODI and T20I series against West Indies, starting February 6.
West Indies is fixed to tour India for three matches ODI and as many games T20I series. The ODI’s will begin on February 6 while the T20Is will commence on February 16.
“Though we haven’t received Rohit’s fitness report from the NCA yet, what we know is he has worked really hard on his fitness and is on course to return to the side. It is important for the team to have your captain and Rohit’s presence will bring a lot more confidence,” a source privy to developments was quoted as saying by News9.
“West Indies will fly in as soon as they complete their series against England and we are well prepared to host them in our bio-secure bubbles in Ahmedabad and Kolkata,” the source added.
The reports further added that chief selector Chetan Sharma led panel will have to make some tough calls for India’s squad against West Indies. Pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar is likely to miss out on the series due to his underwhelming performance in the recently held South Africa ODI series.

Premier all-rounders Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja are also certain to miss the series against West Indies as they continue to recover from their respective injuries.
Shikhar Dhawan might get a reward to trace back into the T20I squad following his gritty knocks against South Africa in the ODI matches. Meanwhile, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant are all probable to be available for the upcoming schedules.
