SL vs AFG 2023 2nd ODI: Sri Lanka played well and won the match by 132 runs hence tying the series by 1-1. The Player of the Match was Dhananjaya de Silva, who scored 29 runs and took three wickets.
Sri Lanka’s batters and Bowlers did a tremendous job after the defeat in the Last match; they Came back and First performed well with bat and scored 323 runs, While Bowling stopped Afghanistan at 191 runs. Kusal Mendis played a vital knock of 78 runs, whereas Hasaranga and De Silva got three wickets each.
Afghanistan performed well in the last game. Especially their batters, but In the match, Their batting line-up collapsed and Scored 191 runs only and failed to chase a massive target. Hashmatullah Shahidi scored 57 runs but didn’t get support from middle-order batters and hence lost the match.
First Half of The Match:
Sri Lanka won the toss and they decided to bat first; in the first inning, Sri Lankan batters played good crickets and showed positive intent in this match, especially their openers (Pathum Nissanka and Dimuth Karunaratne), who didn’t lose their wickets early and then the middle order batters did the job well.
Kusal Mendis was the leading run-scorer of the match; he scored 78 runs in 75 balls. Whereas Dimuth Karunaratne smashed a half-century.
Afghanistan Bowlers bowled quite well but needed to be better. Fazalhaq Farooqi failed to get early wickets, whereas Fareed Ahmad took two wickets one more time, and Mohd. Nabi has taken two wickets as well.
The second half of The Match:
Afghanistan Comes to bat in the second inning, but Rahmanullah Gurbaz lost his wicket in the 4th over and scored only two runs. Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmat Shah made a small partnership of 51 runs, then Rahmat Shah got out by scoring 36 runs.
Ibrahim Zadran and Hashmatullah Shahidi made an important and good partnership of 84 runs. Ibrahim Zadran scored 54 runs, whereas Hashmatullah Shahidi scored 57 runs. Then Afghani batters lost their wickets and hence lost the match as well.
Sri Lankan Bowlers bowled well in this important match Wanindu Hasaranga and Dhananjaya de Silva took two wickets, whereas Dushmantha Chameera got two wickets.
