Sri Lanka spinner Prabhath Jayasuriya broke a 71-year-old record as he became the fastest spinner to take 50 wickets in Test cricket. Not only this he became the overall second-fastest bowler to achieve the feat in the history of the longest format of the game.
Prabhath Jayasuriya achieved the massive feat in just his 7th Test when he removed Irish batter Paul Stirling to take his 50th wicket in the Test on the Day 5 of the second Test at Galle. He surpassed former West Indies cricketer Alf Valentine to etch his name in the record books.

Prabath Jayasuriya made his debut against Australia in 2022 and took a 12-wicket haul in his opening match. Since then he has not looked back and has taken 6 five-wicket hauls.
In the ongoing match against Ireland, Prabath Jayarutiya took a five-wicket haul in the first innings and backed it up by two wickets in the second innings. His staggering spell in the first innings saw Sri Lanka bundling out the opposition for 492 runs.
