SRH Upsets RCB in a Run-fest! A Collapse to Remember For RCB; Check the match highlights

In a high-octane clash at Lucknow, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by 42 runs in IPL 2025. Batting first after losing the toss, SRH posted a commanding total, thanks to a brilliant unbeaten 94 from Ishan Kishan.

In response, RCB looked strong early in the chase but collapsed dramatically in the final overs, folding for quite cheap and suffering a defeat that could dent their 'TOP 2' hopes.

RCB vs SRH Match Summary

SRH Innings: After losing the toss, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) were asked to bat first and turned the pressure into power on a batting-friendly Lucknow pitch. Abhishek Sharma blasted 34 off 17, while Travis Head gave solid support. Klaasen’s smooth 24 and Aniket Verma’s explosive 26 off just 9 balls kept the scoreboard ticking at high speed.

Though RCB pulled things back briefly with a couple of wickets and tight overs from Romario Shepherd, Ishan Kishan stole the show. Under fire for poor form, he answered in style with a masterful 94* off 48, anchoring the innings calmly while others played high-risk shots. His late blitz, along with Cummins, lifted SRH to a massive 231 — a total fitting the most high-scoring IPL season yet.

Chasing a daunting 232, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) began with a bang as Kohli and Salt lit up the powerplay, and Jitesh Sharma added momentum in the middle overs. At 14 overs in, they looked well on course. But the tide turned dramatically in the 15th over when part-timer Nitish Kumar Reddy bowled a tight spell, followed by a game-changing over from Eshan Malinga.

After being expensive early on, Malinga returned with fire, executing perfect yorkers, finding reverse swing, and triggering a collapse by running out Patidar and dismissing Shepherd for a golden duck. What followed was a complete breakdown, with RCB losing their last seven wickets for just 16 runs.

From being in the hunt to suffering a 42-run defeat, RCB’s collapse was sudden and severe, hurting not just this match but possibly their entire campaign as their net run rate dipped below Punjab Kings.
