Asia Cup 2023: The most important and exciting match of the Asia Cup 2023 was played today between Sri Lanka and Pakistan at Sri Lanka’s home ground, R. Premadasa Stadium. In this nail-biting match, defending champion Sri Lanka qualified for the final of the Asia Cup 2023 by defeating Pakistan in the last ball. Sri Lanka won against Pakistan in an ODI International after eight years.
Due to rain, the match could not start on time, and eight overs were cut in both innings. Pakistani captain Babar Azam won the toss and decided to bat first. Batting first, the men in green scored 252 runs at the loss of 7 wickets in 42 overs. For Pakistan, opener batsman Abdullah played an inning of 52 runs, while wicketkeeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan played an inning of 86 runs in 73 balls with the help of six fours and two sixes. Apart from him, 33-year-old Iftikhar Ahmed also played an inning with 47 runs in 40 balls.
Chasing the target of 252 runs, the Sri Lankan team changed the target in the last ball and made it to the final of the Asia Cup 2023. For Sri Lanka, wicketkeeper batsman Kusal Mendis played the highest innings of 91 runs. 26-year-old Charith Asalanka was the hero for Sri Lanka, scoring 49 runs in 47 balls with the help of three fours and four sixes. While wickets were falling one by one, Asalanka remained standing and showed their brilliant game. He hit the winning shot in the last ball to take Sri Lanka to the final of the Asia Cup 2023.
