Steve Smith: The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 is just a few sleeps away from now. The 16th edition of the league will kick start from 31st March with a blockbuster clash between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The re-introduction of the home and away format will be a massive boost for all the teams as home crowds certainly will help them go gaga and bring out the best of them.
The preparations are in full flow for the league. All the players have joined their respective teams and have started putting in the hard yards ahead of the league. Many eyeballs were raised when Australian batter Steve Smith didn’t put up his name for the IPL 2023 auction. There were a few dejected faces as well as almost everyone wanted him to be part of the league. However, their wish will get fulfilled as the batter will be part of the 16th edition of the league.
Smith will be part of the IPL 2023 but not in the area, many expected him to be. The Premier Australian batter will be part of the commentary panel for the league. He posted a video on his social media handles and announced the exciting news.
Although, he didn’t mention that he will be doing commentary during the league. But many credible sources have confirmed that batter will be part of the broadcasting department. Speaking in the video, he said that he’s excited to announce that he will be part of the IPL 2023 and is the joining an exciting and passionate team.

Smith notably, has been an integral part of the league and has played for four franchises in Pune Warriors India, Rajasthan Royals, Rising Pune Supergiants and Delhi Capitals. He went unsold in IPL 2022 auction and decided against putting up his name in the auction this year. In 103 games in IPL, Smith has scored 2485 runs at an average and strike rate of 34.51 and 128.09. Apart from this he also has scored 11 fifties and 1 century in his career.
