Sunil Narine is on the verge of an elite record for KKR in IPL 2025; first player to achieve this record playing for a single team

KKR began their campaign on a weak note with a defeat against RCB in the opening encounter at the Eden Gardens. Star spinner Sunil Narine also picked a wicket and was very economical in his spell, though this time he could not take his team to a win. 

Sunil Narine, under the leadership of skipper Gautam Gambhir, was promoted up the order to open the innings. His effortless hitting in the powerplay earned him huge fame as an all-rounder in the shortest format of the game. 

Sunil Narine has played in over 500 T20I matches across several global leagues around the world, with 537 matches played for teams across the world. Narine is not only a staunch batter but also a stunning spinner despite the ICC regulating several bans on his bowling style.

Sunil Narine has starred for Kolkata Knight Riders, Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, Cape Cobras, Guyana Amazon Warriors, Los Angeles Knight Riders, Sydney Sixers, Trinidad & Tobago, Quetta Gladiators, Oval Invincibles, Melbourne Renegades, New York Strikers, Dhaka Dynamites, and many more. 

The Windies spinner has starred in over 18 domestic sides and franchise teams across several tournaments around the world. 

Narine, KKR’s mystery man, is nearing 200 wickets for them

Sunil Narine now has 181 wickets in the IPL for only one side, Kolkata Knight Riders. Narine has starred in 178 matches for them in the IPL, with his most recent outing being against RCB at their home venue in the Eden Gardens. 

While also in 2012/13 and in 2014/15, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) qualified for the Champions League, and Sunil Narine was an asset to the team. He picked 18 wickets in the competition while playing for Kolkata Knight Riders in the competition as well. 

The veteran has 199 wickets for KKR and is just one wicket away from creating history in franchise cricket, as he would be the first-ever player for an Indian franchise to have picked 200 wickets playing for a single side. 

Narine also scored nearly 4500 runs in his long career in franchise-level T20 cricket.
