Vivo IPL 2021: After four odd games, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have found something to cheer as they defeat Punjab Kings (PBKS) by nine wickets in the 14th game of the fourteenth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
David Warner made a couple of changes in the side after three back to back defeats. Puts down Manish Pandey, Abdul Samad, Mujeeb Ur Rahman and brings in Kane Williamson, Kedar Jadhav and Siddharth Kaul.
KL Rahul also made a couple of changes in the playing11, leaves out Jhye Richardson and Riley Meredith and brings in Moises Henriques and Fabian Allen to power their batting.
Punjab Kings won the toss and opted to bat first at MA Chidambaram Stadium.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar restricted Punjab from an ideal start as he removes KL Rahul(4 runs) followed by Khaleel Ahmad’s spell to get rid of dangerous-looking Mayank Agarwal (22 runs). Both the openers were sent back inside 40 runs.
Chris Gayle (15 Runs) under pressure scored 15 from 17 delivers before getting lbw off Rashid Khan.
West Indies explosive batsman Nicholas Pooran lean patch continues as he was sent back for a diamond duck courtesy a quick throw from David Warner.
Young Shahrukh Khan tried to put Punjab Kings back on track but there was no one to support him from the other end. Khan was dismissed by Khaleel Ahmad in 22 runs off 17 deliveries.
SRH bowled out Punjab Kings (PBKS) in 120 runs with two balls to spear. Khaleel Ahmad picked three wickets, Abhishek Sharma got two under his belt while Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Siddarth Kaul and Rashid Khan scalped one each.
Skipper David Warner and his opening partner Jonny Bairstow produced a scintillating start. Both of them amassed 73 runs inside 10 overs. Warner was dismissed by Fabian Allen in 37 runs from as many deliveries while Jonny Bairstow remained unbeaten with Kane Williamson.
Bairstow scored 56 balls 63 while Williamson scored 19 balls 16 to power Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to their first win in the Vivo IPL 2021. SRH chased down the total of 121 runs in 18.4 overs.
England opener Jonny Bairstow was given the “Man of the Match” award.
