Suryakumar Yadav officially becomes the greatest Mumbai Indians batter, goes past Sachin Tendulkar in elite list
Mumbai Indians batter Suryakumar Yadav achieved a massive feat in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He broke Sachin Tendulkar's record for most runs by the MI batter in a single edition of the league.
Suryakumar Yadav achieved the feat during the game between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The match between the two teams took place at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Monday (26th May).
Suryakumar Yadav, who has been going through great form in the IPL 2025, played a magnificent innings against Punjab Kings and kept his team in the game. The batter almost played a lone warrior hand for his team and made sure that he kept scoring runs at a good rate.
Suryakumar Yadav walked out to bat at three and looked unfazed by the wickets falling at the other end. The batter played some eye-catching shots in his innings and took his team to a fighting total of 184 runs on the board against Punjab Kings.
Suryakumar Yadav batted till the last over and played an innings of 57 runs off 39 balls. The right-hander batted with a strike rate of over 146 and also slammed six boundaries and two sixes, bailing his team out of trouble when they lost early wickets.
During his innings, Suryakumar Yadav also shattered the 15-year-long record of Sachin Tendulkar. The middle-order batter became the player from the franchise with the most number of runs. The batting great had slammed 618 runs in 2010 and now Suryakumar had gone past that.
With the Mumbai Indians all set to play in the playoffs, Suryakumar Yadav will have the opportunity to score more runs. With the kind of form that he is in, he is expected to go past 700 runs on the board.
