Sydney Sixers defeated Perth Scorchers to win the Big Bash League Title 2020-21.

Big Bash League (BBL) 2020-21: The Sydney Sixers went through the batting lineup of Perth Scorchers to win the Bish Bash League title yet another time. Sixers defended their title and thrashed Perth Scorchers by 27 runs. 

With the win, Sydney Sixers matched the score of Perth Scorchers of three BBL titles in 10 seasons.

Playing on their backyard, Sydney Sixers with 25,000 attendants, tied the score and won their third overall Big Bash League title and two in a row.

“It was a pretty special atmosphere,” Sixers captain Moises Henriques said. “We got used to playing in front of empty stands, so to come home and play in front of this crowd was fantastic. They gave us an extra leg.

Sixers were forced to bat first by the Scorchers, opening batsman James Vince smacked the bowlers all over the park. Vince in 60 balls amassed 95 runs to take his side to the total of 188 for 6 inside 20 overs.

Vince earlier against the Scorchers in the qualifiers performed scintillating and smashed unbeaten 98 runs and ended on the winning side. This time the opener missed out on his century trying to cut off spinner Fawad Ahmed.

Perth Scorchers started off well in the run chase with a wonderful opening stand 45 runs. In the meantime, Sixers pacer Jackson Bird ran through the openers of Perth Scorchers.

Having conceded only 14 runs in the first three overs and dismissing Cameron Bancroft and Liam Livingstone. 

After the dismissal of the openers, the pressure started to build upon the Perth Scorchers with 75 runs needed in six overs.

Scorchers went in backfoot with the twin strikes of Sixers bowler Ben Dwarshuis to get rid of Mitchell Marsh and Josh Inglis in the 15th over of the innings.

Aaron Hardie tried to put pressure back on Sidney Sixers with his late fierce innings of 26 off 13 deliveries. However, the run rate went too far to cover.

Sydney closed the game with 27 runs to spare and won the title yet again. Scorchers ended their campaign as they were restricted to 161/9 in the final.
