Bangladesh squad announced for the mega event

After a disappointing outing in the Asia Cup 2022, the Bangladesh team will shift its focus towards the much significant T20 World Cup in Australia which is all set to commence mid-October onwards. The team hasn’t been able to deliver quality performances in the shortest format of the game recently and had a forgettable time in the Asia Cup last month. The Shakib Al Hasan lead side was needed out during the group stages of the tournament itself after suffering defeats from Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. The team has clearly had issues and problems which have been troubling them on big occasions regularly.

Shakib Al Hasan who was named the full-time captain of his side only before the Asia Cup 2022 failed to achieve desirable results of any kind. The side barely had any sort of impact on the games under their new skipper which seems to be a bit of a concern for the team and its management. Despite all the failures in the recent past, the team will look to turn things around ahead of the big upcoming tournament.

The Bangladesh side will have a big task ahead of them as they’ll have to battle it out against some top-notch teams in the Super 12 stage. Bangladesh’s World T20 campaign shall begin on the 24th of October against the Group A runner-ups from the qualifying stages.

In this article, we shall be discussing the Bangladesh team ahead of the T20 World Cup in Australia.

T20 World Cup 2022: Bangladesh Players to watch out for

1.  Litton Das – Bangladesh’s talented opening batsman Litton Das is certainly going to be one of the players to watch out for in the World T20 in Australia. The right-handed batsman is technically gifted and can be of great use to his side with his brilliant stroke play and versatile batting style.

The 28-year-old who made his T20I debut back in 2015 has been an essential part of his team’s batting lineup in white ball Cricket, T20I in particular. With more than 1119 runs in 56 T20Is for Bangladesh so far in his career, Litton Das certainly will be a major part of Bangladesh’s plans for the World T20.

2. Mustafizur Rahman – Mustafizur Rahman who has been one of the most important parts of his team’s bowling department will be another player to watch out for in the upcoming World T20. The 26-year-old who made his debut back in 2015 has been absolutely sensational for his team with the ball in white ball cricket in particular. His ability to choke the runs and pick wickets has been remarkably good.

The fact that he’s performed brilliantly well despite bowling the tough overs in a game makes him unique to his team. The left-arm pacer has picked 94 wickets in 72 T20Is so far and thus will be an important part of the team and will have to perform well so as to help his team achieve its objectives in the World T20.

3. Shakib Al Hasan – Shakib Al Hasan who will be leading his side for the first time in a tournament as big as the T20 World T20 will be another important player to watch out for. The all-rounder has been the pillar to his side both with the bat and the ball. The left-hander has scored a total of over 2000 runs in his T20I career so far which has spanned a total of 101 games in a period of 15 years.

The 35-year-old has been sensational with the ball too picking up 122 wickets in 101 matches at an economy rate of 6.67. He will be a major part of the team that has to perform unimaginably well in order to reach greater heights in the upcoming T20 World Cup.

T20 World Cup 2022: Winning Prediction

Considering the present form of the players and the rhythm which the overall team is in, it’s highly difficult to say if Bangladesh will be able to achieve any glory in the upcoming major tournament or not. The team hasn’t been able to withstand any quality opposition in recent times and has suffered several losses in the past. It’s record in the T20 world cup editions so far in the history of the tournament too hasn’t been impressed with the team missing out on a spot in the Super 12 stages last year.

The team however consists of several high-profile players like skipper Shakib Al Hasan, Litton Das, Mosaddek Hossain and many more. Taking the current scenario of the team and the strengths possessed by the other teams in their group, it will be the correct thing to say that Bangladesh will possibly be knocked out of the tournament in the group stages itself. The team will have to learn from its mistakes and solve several issues that they’ve had to initiate an incredible turnaround against the odds to everyone’s surprise.
