T20 World Cup 2022: Rohit Sharma struck on his right forearm ahead of India vs England semi-final: Team India skipper Rohit Sharma had a bit of a perilous moment ahead of the semi-final clash against England as the opener took a blow on his right forearm while he was taking throwdowns.
Sharma was setting himself against the throwdown specialist. He was undergoing his routine training sessions when the ball nipped back in and struck his right forearm.
The skipper was immediately attended by the medical team and looked in extreme discomfort. Following a brief consultation with the support staff, he again tried to take the strike, but he discontinued his training after facing a solitary delivery.
Rohit Sharma then sat on the sidelines and treated his injured arm with ice along with a long chat with mental conditioning coach Paddy Upton. He soon returned to the nets after nursing his injury and batted without any pain or distress against slower throwdowns.
If the injury doesn’t settle well with Rohit Sharma, it will be a massive setback for the Indian team ahead of the knockout clash. Even though Rohit hasn’t scored runs in this tournament, he is a vital cog for the team. Moreover, his captaincy has been apt in the tournament.
The 35-years old has scored a half-century in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022. His 53-run knock came against the Netherlands in the second match of India’s campaign.
Meanwhile, only three members of the Indian side turned up for the optional training session of which one was Rohit Sharma. The other two were Dinesh Karthik and Hardik Pandya.
Notably, team India will take the field against England on Thursday (10th November 2022) in the second semi-final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 at Adelaide Oval.
India topped its group points table after winning four matches out of five. Their only loss came against South Africa in the third game.
