The Pakistan National Cricket team, under the leadership of reappointed skipper Babar Azam participated in some military drills during their two - week military training camp at Kakul?s Army School of Physical Training (ASPT). The PCB decided to organize a training session with the army of Pakistan and the players of the Men in Green were witnessed going through heavy workouts in a video posted by the PCB on their X handle. Pakistan Cricket has been all over the news since the last few weeks with Babar Azam getting reappointed as the white ball skipper and he has replaced Shaheen Shah Afridi in that position.

In order to get the Shaheens back on track for the 2024 T20 World Cup, the Pakistan Cricket Board decided to reappoint Babar Azam as the white ball captain of the Men in Green. In November 2023, following Pakistan's humiliating defeat against India in the 2023 ODI World Cup, Babar announced his decision to resign as the skipper from all formats of the game.



Following Babar Azam?s resignation as the skipper, the 29 year old was replaced by Shaheen Shah Afridi as the captain in T20 International games and Shan Masood in the longest format of the game.



The 1-4 series defeat against New Zealand in January 2024 was the only series the Shaheens played under the leadership of Shaheen Shah Afridi.



The 2009 T20 World Cup winners are set to lock horns against the Black Caps in a five match home T20i series in April. Then they will travel to Ireland for a two-match T20i series and then they will be playing four T20 International matches against England before the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Pakistan's Men's National Cricket Team captain Babar Azam held a press conference on Wednesday where he provided an update regarding the Men in Green?s squad for the upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup which is set to commence from 1st June at the Grand Prairie Stadium of Texas, USA.



Babar who recently got reappointed as the white ball captain of the Shaheens last month, will be seen leading the National team in the upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup and this World Cup is going to be his third one as a captain.



During the press conference, the 29 year old was asked whether the squad that has been selected for the five match T20i series against New Zealand will be the one which will board the flight to the West Indies and the USA or if some changes are going to be made to which the Pakistan Captain replied that there's a lot of time for the World Cup and the squad will be finalized soon.



?Currently, our focus is on the series against New Zealand but a similar squad will be picked for the 2024 T20 World Cup. You never know what will happen next because there's a lot of time left for the T20 World Cup,? Babar said in the press conference.



?We are going to have time to make alterations to the squad even after announcing it. There are no players currently who are guaranteed to make the squad for the World Cup. We will give our best efforts to select the best possible squad which can perform well at the 2024 T20 World Cup,? Babar Azam added.



Arch rivals India and Pakistan will be competing against each other in the most awaited match of this year on 9th of June at New York?s Eisenhower Park.



This year's mega event, which is set to commence from 1st June, has seen some changes being made in the format as the 20 participating teams will be divided into four groups of five teams each. <a href="https://www.icccricketschedule.com/category/cricket-team/icc-teams/pakistan/">Pakistan</a> and India are part of Group A, along with Canada, Ireland and the USA.



Defending Champions England are a&nbsp; part of Group B, which consists of Namibia, arch rivals Australia, Scotland, and Oman. Group C consists of Afghanistan,the co-hosts West Indies, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, and Uganda, while Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are a part of Group D along with Nepal, South Africa and the Netherlands.



The teams that manage to finish in the top two of each group will qualify for the Super Eight stage, where the qualified teams will get divided into two groups, which will consist of four teams each. The Super 8 draw will be decided on the basis of the pre-tournament seedings of the participating teams, and their finishing positions of 1st and 2nd in the group stage will not be considered for the Super 8 draw. Each participating team will have a fixed group for the Super 8 stage at the start of the tournament.



The teams that finish in the top 2 of their respective Super-8 groups will qualify for the Semi-Finals, and the winners of Semi-Finals 1 &amp; 2 will compete against each other in the Final of the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup.



The two Semi finals will take place on 26th and 27th of June in the cities of Guyana and Trinidad respectively while the blockbuster ?Final) of the World - Cup will be played on 29th June in Barbados.



England are the reigning champions after their famous victory in the 2022 T20 World Cup final against Pakistan in Australia.

Pakistan's former captain and fast bowler Waqar Younis has named his squad of the Men in Green for the upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup which is set to start from 1st in the West Indies and the United States of America.



Waqar, who played 349 international games for the Shaheens, reflected on which players should board Pakistan's flight for the West Indies and the USA as the players will be anticipated to play an important role in helping the Shaheens lift their second T20 World Cup trophy.



Currently playing the role of the commentator in the ongoing five match T20i series between New Zealand and Pakistan, the 52 year old was asked which players he will pick for the T20 World Cup.



?In my opinion, provided all the players are fit, the likes of Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub will be the openers alongisde skipper Babar Azam. Mohammad Rizwan and Usman khan should handle the middle order duties for Pakistan. Usman must go to the West Indies and the USA for the World Cup at any cost. He's a really good player and will provide the balance and flexibility the team needs,? Waqar said.



?For the role of the backup wicket - keeper, I will pick Azam Khan. Even though he?s not playing against New Zealand currently, he should definitely be in the squad as he is a proven match winner and has performed well in the PSL. Talking about the finisher, Iftikhar Ahmed is an automatic choice for that role as currently there's no other better finisher than him in the country,? he added.



?In terms of the spinners, Shadab Khan is an automatic pick and the duo of Imad Wasim and Usama mir will be the other spinners. I feel that our team will need a mystery spinner as well and Abrar Ahmed can play that role perfectly. He has performed well in the series against New Zealand and he will provide a lot of variety to captain Babar in the World Cup.?



?Lastly, I will pick four fast bowlers for our team and they include Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf and Mohammad Amir. Shaheen will lead the bowling attack and with the return of Amir, this pace bowling attack will be one of the most feared bowling attacks in the entire tournament,? he concluded.
