India will not travel to Pakistan for Asia Cup 2023: Jay Shah: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary, Jay Shah has dropped a bombshell as he asserted that the next edition of the Asia Cup would have to be played at a neutral venue and not in Pakistan, which is officially scheduled to be the host of the tournament.



After the conclusion of the BCCI?s latest annual general meeting, Mr Shah, who is also the Asian Cricket Council President, suggested that India won?t travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup and neither Pakistan can come to India.



"The Asia Cup 2023 will be held at a neutral venue," Shah told media after the BCCI's AGM. "I am saying this as ACC President. We [India] can't go there [to Pakistan], they can't come here. In the past also, Asia Cup has been played at a neutral venue."&nbsp;



Although the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) hasn?t yet officially reacted to Jay Shah's statement, the inside gossips confirm that the PCB isn?t pleased with Shah?s remark on the Asia Cup that too when it was the stage for BCCI?s AGM.



A PCB spokesperson said that although the cricket board hasn?t reacted to the remark made by ACC President, they strongly condemn it. Moreover, there will be a robust response to this matter for instance - Pakistan leaving the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).

It?s important to note that things get pretty complicated as India and Pakistan are set to host two upcoming ICC events. India will host the 2023 ODI World Cup while Pakistan has been officially chosen to stage the 2025?s Champions Trophy.



Both India and Pakistan don?t play bilateral cricket and their mutual travel has been restricted for a decade now. In all the matches they are involved are in neutral venues. Pakistan will not take part in ODI World Cup 2023 in India, says PCB Chairman: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman, Ramiz Raja has threatened India that it will not take part in the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup 2023, which is scheduled to be held in India if India doesn?t make a trip to Pakistan for the next Asia Cup.&nbsp;

?If Pakistan doesn't take part in the World Cup scheduled in India next year, who will watch it? We have a clear stand: If the Indian team comes here [for Asia Cup 2023] then we will go for the World Cup. If they don't come then they can play the World Cup without us," Raja told Urdu News.



The former Pakistani cricketer added that his side has defeated the ?Billion Dollar Economy Team? twice in the recent past - in T20 World Cup 2021 and in Asia Cup 2022, earlier this year.

In the 2021 T20 World Cup, we beat India. We beat India in the T20 Asia Cup. In one year, the Pakistan cricket team defeated a billion-dollar economy team twice," he added.



Interestingly, a few months ago, Jay Shah, secretary of the BCCI and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President, said that the Indian national cricket team won?t travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup. The continental tournament will be shifted to a neutral venue if India were to take part.



Following the statement, PCB came to action and called an emergency meeting with its officials. The cricket board expressed its dissatisfaction with Shah?s remark as they were said without prior consultation with the office bearers of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). Pakistan even pressurised to renounce its ACC membership after the statement.



Meanwhile, Anurag Thakur, Union Sports Minister, stated that India can?t be overlooked as it is a major power in World Sports.

Pakistan threatens to pull out of Asia Cup 2023 in case of venue change: Ramiz Raja, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief, has asserted boldly that his team would consider pulling out of the Asia Cup 2023 if the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) moves the tournament to a neutral venue. The India-Pakistan tussle for the Asia Cup 2023 is far from settlement and there is a lot to see in the coming few months as we head closer to the tournament.



On the sidelines of the Pakistan-England Test series, Raja said his country has won the rights to host Asia Cup 2023 fair and square and they won?t back down on it.



"It's not as if we don't have hosting rights and we're pleading to host it," Ramiz said on the sidelines of the Pakistan-England Test in Rawalpindi. "We won the rights fair and square. If India doesn't come, they won't come. If the Asia Cup gets taken away from Pakistan, maybe we're the ones that pull out."



Earlier, PCB had also threatened to renounce its Asian Cricket Council (ACC) membership following Jay Shah?s, who is ACC President and BCCI secretary, remark that the Asia Cup 2023 would be shifted to a neutral venue.



After the annual general meeting of the BCCI, Jay Shah said, "the Asia Cup 2023 will be held at a neutral venue.? Following this statement, India?s union minister of Sports, Anurag Thakur said that India?s visit to Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023 would completely rely on clearance from the home ministry.



Of late Pakistan has successfully hosted a couple of giant cricket teams to once again establish friendly playing conditions in their country. Recently they hosted Australia and now their home test series with England is underway.

"Why give it to us in the first place and then make all those statements about India not travelling to Pakistan? I accept that India won't come because the government won't allow them to come - fine. But to take the Asia Cup away from the host on that basis isn't right,? said Raza.



The cricketer-turned-commentator added that efforts should be made to resume bilateral cricket between India and Pakistan. He mentioned that he was enormously loved in India by the fans when he was a part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as a commentator. Moreover, the fans want to see India-Pakistan play on the field.



?There is no contest if India and Pakistan are not playing. I have mentioned it so many times. I have always been loved in India; I've done so many IPL editions [as a commentator]. The winner of the Men's Premier Cup will join India &amp; Pakistan in Group 1 of Asia Cup 2023. Although the entire schedule isn't out yet, the competition will be played in September.

The ACC will stage 145 games during its two-year cycle, including ODIs and T20Is, as per the calendar. In the following cycles, 75 matches will be played in 2023 and 70 matches in 2024. The Men?s Emerging Asia Cup (U-23) and the Women?s Emerging Asia Cup are also reintroduced.&nbsp;



The women's Asia Cup will take place in September 2024, with India and Pakistan sharing the group with a qualifier. In the other group, Sri Lanka will be joined by Bangladesh and another qualifier. India and Pakistan are placed in the same group in all of the tournament's official schedules. Is this a coincidence or part of a deliberate strategy?

The Men's Challengers Cup, a ten-team 50-over competition that will feature Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Bhutan, China, Myanmar, Maldives, Thailand, Iran, and two yet-to-be-named teams, will kick start 2023 according to the new calendar. Two groups of five teams each will be formed out of the teams.



A 35-over men's under-16 regional tournament will be held in March. Eight teams from different regions will compete in the competition. The Men's Challengers Cup's winners and runners-up will advance to the Men's Premier Cup. The Men?s Premier Cup is a 50-over tournament, ten teams will compete in the competition, which will be held in April, split into two groups of five teams each. Along with Men's Challengers Cup qualifiers, the teams are UAE, Nepal, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Malaysia.



The Women's and Men's 50-over Emerging Teams Asia Cups will take place in June and July respectively. Following the Men's ODI Asia Cup in September, the Men's U19 Challenger Cup, Men's U19 Premier Cup, and Men's U19 Asia Cup will be held in October, November, and December, respectively.



The Men's and Women's T20 Challenger Cups will kick off 2024 in February and March, respectively. The Men's and Women's T20 Premier Cups will come after it in April and May, respectively.

India will not travel to Pakistan for Asia Cup 2023: In an important development, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has remained firm and unmoved in its stance of not travelling to Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023. The update came after the BCCI secretary Jay Shah boarded a plane to Bahrain to discuss the fate of Asia Cup 2023 hosting rights at the behest of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman, Najam Sethi.



The sources who have their ear close to the development said that there is negligible chance of India travelling to Pakistan to play Asia Cup 2023 in September, which ultimately meant that the continental tournament will have to be shifted to another venue.



It was learnt that there is a high chance that the Asia Cup 2023, which will be played in the 50-over format, will be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) or Sri Lanka.



?Jay is in Bahrain for the ACC meeting. The BCCI?s stand will not change. We will not be travelling to Pakistan as we haven?t got any go-ahead from the government,? a BCCI source stated.



Notably, the recent bomb attacks in Peshawar have yet again put the cricketing world under stress as security threats continue to surge in the country. The big teams in world cricket will have to think it twice before travelling to Pakistan and playing a tournament there.



Meanwhile, Jay Shah, in December 2021, announced the itinerary of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), however, the venues were missing from it.



Following this, Najam Sethi accused Jay Shah of taking unilateral decisions and not seeking Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB's) recommendation. However, the ACC has denied all the allegations made by the PCB chief, as it said multiple emails seeking PCB's recommendation went unanswered.



Interestingly, the previous PCB chief, Ramiz Raja, had also accused Jay Shah, ACC chief, of taking independent decisions, after Shah confirmed that the Asia Cup 2023 will be shifted out of Pakistan due to security concerns for the Indian players.



This also led to Ramiz Raja threatening the ACC to renounce its membership and the BCCI of boycotting the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 which will be held in India.

ICC Cricket World Cup 2023: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has once again threatened the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to pull out of the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in the aftermath of the decision taken by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) to relocate the venues of the Asia Cup 2023. 



In the meeting held yesterday among the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) office bearers, it was concluded that a neutral venue will be announced for the Asia Cup 2023, which will be held in the 50-over format this year. The new venue for the Asia Cup 2023, which most likely will be UAE, will be finalised in the month of March.



The sources who have their ear close to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirm that the cricket board isn't pleased with the decision of the ACC to relocate the tournament.



"PCB isn't happy with this thinking that Asia cup could be relocated to some neutral venue, name of UAE is on top of the list which might get the hosting but if it happens then Pakistan will not travel to India for ICC World Cup 2023," said the source.



The last edition of the Asia Cup, which was held in 2022 in the T20 format, was held in the UAE and the chances of UAE hosting it again are very high. Meanwhile, Qatar has also shown its keenness to host the continental tournament after having hosted a couple of franchise-based cricketing tournaments in the recent past.



Earlier, Jay Shah, chief of the ACC, has already made it clear that the Indian men won't travel to Pakistan for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023 due to security reasons and prevailing political tensions between the two nations. 



Shah, who also holds the position of secretary in the BCCI, also confirmed that the new venue of the Asia Cup 2023 will be announced after the second round of the Executive board meeting of ACC members in March.



"The ACC affiliates met today and there were a lot of constructive discussions. But the shift of venue has been postponed till March. But be rest assured that with India not going to Pakistan, the tournament will have to be shifted. A tournament without Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Shubman Gill will have the sponsors back out," a BCCI source told the news agency PTI following the meeting among the ACC officials in Bahrain.



It's important to note that this is not the first time the PCB has intimidated the BCCI to boycott the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, which will be held in India, if they are prevented from hosting the Asia Cup 2023. Ramiz Raja, the former PCB chairman, during his tenure explicitly said that his team won't visit India if they are denied the opportunity to stage the Asian tournament in 2023.

In what has been the latest development as per the reports in RevSportz, it is learned that India fast bowler Mohammed Shami will be missing part of the ongoing T20I series against England. The reports claimed that the pacer will be missing at least two more games in the series.

He was expected to make the comeback during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 but then was sidelined due to the knee injury that he faced while playing domestic cricket. 
The wait to see Mohammed Shami in action continues. With Jasprit Bumrah having a niggle, he will be extremely important for India in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The tournament will be played in Pakistan and UAE from 19th February to 9th March.

Nitish Kumar Reddy, who didn't get to bat and ball in the match, is likely to make way for Sundar if the team wants to add another spinner in the team.
