India vs England Test Series: Axar Patel ruled out of the first test due to knee pain.



India vs England Test Series: Team India?s bowling all-rounder Axar Patel is ruled out of the opener of the four games test series against England. The all-rounder complaint of knee pain during the optional practice session on Thursday.?



Patel will be monitored with the concerned medical teams for the next few days. ?Axar Patel has been ruled out of the first Paytm Test against England. The all-rounder complained of pain in his left knee during Team India's optional training session on Thursday. He is being monitored by the BCCI Medical Team and while his detailed reports are awaited, he will not be available for selection for the opening match," BCCI said in a statement.

Vivo IPL 2021: Delhi Capitals? Axar Patel Tested positive for Coronavirus ahead of the Vivo IPL 2021.



Vivo IPL 2021: All rounder Axar Patel has been tested positive for coronavirus on Saturday, 6 days before the opener of the Indian Premier League. He became the second cricketer after Nitish Rana to test positive. Although Rana?s covid-report came negative on Thursday.



According to Delhi Capitals? report, the cricketer had checked in with the Covid-negative report while his second Covid report turned positive.



?He had checked into the team hotel in Mumbai on March 28, 2021, with a negative report. His report from the second COVID test came positive. He is currently in isolation at a designated medical care facility,? said a Delhi Capitals statement.



As per the Standard Operation Protocols (SOPs) released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Axar Patel will have to self isolate himself out of the team?s bio-bubble and will not come back in until he tests negative.



?During the 10-day isolation, the individual must rest and avoid any exercises. The team doctor should regularly monitor the case. If symptoms worsen during the course of isolation, the individual must be hospitalised immediately,? states the BCCI SOP, as per ANI.



The left-arm all-rounder was roped in by the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 2019 auction for INR 5 Crores and since then he has cemented his position. He featured in 14 IPL games in 2019 while 15 in 2020 IPL.



The runner-up of IPL 020, Delhi Capitals (DC) are scheduled to play against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to kickstart their IPL 2021 campaign in Mumbai?s Wankhede Stadium. As many as 10 ground staffs and six event managers from Wankhede Stadium have been tested positive for the virus.

Vivo IPL 2021: Delhi Capitals (DC) on Thursday roped in Mumbai?s left-arm spinner Shams Mulani as the first Covid-19 backup for all-rounder Axar Patel as he failed to recover from the deadly virus and again tested covid-positive.



Karnataka off-spinner Aniruddha Joshi has been roped in by Delhi Capitals (DC) as the replacement of injured skipper Shreyas Iyer.



All these details were confirmed in the media release of the Indian Premier League (IPL) however the report didn?t mention anything about paceman Anrich Nortje who is believed to be covid-positive.



Delhi Capitals regular skipper Shreyas Iyer sustained a shoulder injury in the England series and post which he was ruled out of the Indin T20 tournament.



?Delhi Capitals have brought in Shams Mulani as a short-term COVID-19 replacement for Axar Patel for their IPL-2021 campaign,? the release stated.



?Axar had tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 virus during his mandatory quarantine ahead of the season and was subsequently taken to BCCI?s medical facility for isolation and treatment,? it further stated.

The Indian all-rounder was first tested covid-positive on 3rd April and it?s been 12 days always. It is understood that Axar Patel will not be available for the games anytime soon due to which short term covid-19 replacement Shams Mulani has been brought in.



Shams will not be allowed to play for any other franchise in this season once he leaves Delhi Capitals after Axar Patel come into the side with a full recovery.



As per the new rule implemented by BCCI due to covid-19 restrictions, franchises can have a short term replacement option for any player who has been tested covid positive. The player named as a replacement will be with the franchise until the original member of the franchise comes back in (in this case Axar Patel).

ICC WTC Final: A strong 20-men Indian squad along with Indian women cricketers had landed in Southampton, UK for the marquee final of the ICC World Test Championship against New Zealand. T20 World Cup 2021: In an important development in the Indian squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2021, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder Shardul Thakur has been drafted into India?s main squad replacing Axar Patel, confirmed BCCI secretary Jay Shah on Wednesday.



Thakur, who was initially named as one of the three stands by players for the World Cup, has impressed everyone with his bowling skills in the ongoing Vivo IPL 2021. The bowling all-rounder has picked up 18 wickets in 15 appearances, which prompted the selectors to have a go at him in place of Axar.



Spinner Axar Patel is now on the standby list joining pacer Deepak Chahar and batsman Shreyas Iyer for the T20 World Cup 2021, scheduled in the United Arab Emirates and Oman from October 17.

India tour of South Africa: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is soon going to announce the complete Indian squad for the tour of South Africa that includes three test matches and as many ODIs. The tour is scheduled to commence on December 26th after getting postponed by a week?s time following the concerns of the Omicron variant of coronavirus.



However, in the meantime, it has been learnt that the Indian selectors will not have many debatable options for the Indian test squad against South Africa. While a few players have sustained injuries, while some young players in the Indian test team have outplayed the likes of veteran players and are likely to be replaced which makes the squad selections way easier for the selection committee.



As per a report in Indian Express, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, opening batsman Shubman Gill and senior pacer Ishant Sharma are likely to be dropped for the tour of South Africa.



Both the all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel are injured. The former has sustained a ligament tear while the latter is learnt to have a stress fracture. Both the cricketers are likely to be sidelined for the tour.



?All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja suffered a right forearm injury during the 1st Test match in Kanpur. After undergoing scans, he was diagnosed with a swelling on his forearm. He has been advised rest and is thus ruled out of the 2nd Test in Mumbai,? the BCCI release had stated ahead of the start of the Wankhede encounter.

Opening batsman Shubman Gill has sustained a shin injury. He was, earlier, ruled out of the India tour of England due to his shin stress injury and is likely to be ruled out of the upcoming tour of South Africa with the same injury.



As far as Ishant Sharma?s selection is concerned, the pacer was benched in the second test match due to his poor form. He was replaced by Mohammad Siraj who is again likely to get a nod ahead of Ishant in the test series against South Africa, starting December 26.

Rohit Sharma cleared Preliminary Fitness Test, likely to be added to ODI squad for South Africa: In what comes as delightful news for the Indian cricket fans, opener batsman Rohit Sharma has successfully cleared the preliminary fitness test conducted at the National Cricket Academy. Sharma, who has been appointed India?s new white-ball captain, missed the red ball series against South Africa owing to his hamstring injury.



As per the reports of InsideSports, Rohit has passed the initial fitness test and will undergo another round of tests very soon following which the decision will be derived whether he will be available for the ODI series against South Africa or not.

More trouble for team India, Axar Patel joins list of Covid infected players - INDvsWI: Dark clouds have begun to threaten the West Indies tour of India, as spin bowling all-rounder Axar Patel become the fifth Indian player to come in contact with the dreaded virus ahead of the ODI series against the West Indies. It has been learnt that Axar Patel was yet to join the Indian contingent in Ahmedabad.?



Earlier, Shreyas Iyer, Shikhar Dhawan and Ruturaj Gaikwad along with four other members of the Indian ODI squad were tested covid positive. Navdeep Saini, who is picked as a backup pacer for the ODI series against West Indies, also returned Covid positive on Wednesday.



It must be noted that Axar Patel is only available to play the three matches T20I series against West Indies. The cricketer will join the Indian squad following the completion of the three matches ODI series, starting February 6.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer has faced a massive injury in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024-25. While playing for Madhya Pradesh in the game against Kerala, which kick-started on Thursday (23rd January) at the Greenfield Stadium.  
Venkatesh Iyer, who was brought by Kolkata Knight Riders for INR 23.75 crore, got hurt on the ankle while batting for Madhya Pradesh. As he came out to bat, he twisted his ankle and was on the ground, wincing in pain as physios rushed out to check on him. 
Venkatesh Iyer then was deemed unfit to take part in the game as he limped off the field. He batted for three balls and scored 2 runs. With the kind of pain he looked in pain, it's fair to say that he will be ruled out of the game along with the next round of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25, which will begin on 30th January. 
This could come as a massive blow for the Kolkata Knight Riders with Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 around the corner. The all-rounder has been the main batter for the team for the last few seasons and played a major role in the team winning the title last year.
