Babar Azam ruled out of the three T20Is against New Zealand due to fractured thumb.



Babar Azam ruled out: Pakistan?s skipper Babar Azam suffered a thumb fracture during the practice session before the start of the tour. He is now ruled out of the whole T20I series against New Zealand.



Azam injured his right thumb while practicing in the nets on Sunday creating a hole in the lineup. The batting powerhouse would be out of the game for at least 12 days.



The Pakistan Cricket Board on Sunday said, Babar Azam now faces the race with the time to get fit for the upcoming test event against New Zealand. We hope he recovers in time for the first test game.



?I have got in touch with Babar Azam and he is sad to miss out from the T20I series against New Zealand. He was fully focused and keen on playing the games,? Misbah-ul-Haq said about Azam.



?We have a very long cricketing season forward and we now hope that Azam gets his fitness as early as possible so that he can return to the competitive cricket,? Misbah-ul-Haq in a statement.

Babar?s injury becomes more important as batsman Imam-ul-Haq has been ruled out a day before after he fractured his left thumb while practicing. Pakistan?s T20I Vice-Captain, Shadab Khan is also complaining of Groin niggle.



Pakistan and New Zealand are scheduled to play three-game T20I series and two Test games to end the tour. The tour will begin with T20Is on December 18, Friday.

ICC T20I Team of the Decade: Former Pakistan?s speedster Shoaib Akhtar slammed the parent body of cricket for not including a single Pakistan Cricketer in the list of ICC T20I Team of the Decade.



International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the ICC T20I Team of the Decade on Sunday Afternoon and to everyone?s surprise there was no single Pakistani cricketer. Current Pakistan?s skipper Babar Azam was the contender to get a feature in the T20I Team however it was not the truth.



Speaking on his youtube channel Akhtar propelled some fierce attack on ICC as they didn?t release the World-XI instead it?s an all-time IPL XI.



?They (ICC) didn?t even name a single Pakistani player in the team. We don?t need your T20I Team of the Decade because you announced the IPL team not the world cricket team,? Shoaib Akhtar on his Youtube Video.



The former cricketer told the current T20I rankings is ruled by Babar Azam and he should be inducted in the side of 20 overs format.



?I think Pakistan is also a member of ICC and they also compete in T20I Cricket. They did not even notice Babar Azam who ruled the T20I charts for years.?



The former pacer criticized the parent body of cricket for ruining the game for sake of money.

?ICC only thinks about money, sponsorships, and TV rights. They introduced two new balls and three powerplays (in the ODI cricket). "Babar Azam is the biggest player in the T20I format. He is the top scorer for the country, his numbers are beyond imagination. It is so embarrassing and I am sure after watching this video ICC will think that they have to announce the combined World-XI, not the IPL-XI,? he concluded.

Though it has always been a controversial topic of rating the best test batter without any specific criteria and everyone knew that it would certainly attract criticism, however, Shane Watson decided to take a dive into it and give it a shot.&nbsp;



The former Aussie ranked Virat Kohli at number one despite knowing the fact that Virat hasn?t been at his best since 2019. The Indian batter hasn?t scored a single century in either of the cricketing formats for the last 2 years.&nbsp;



"In Test match cricket, I am always going to say Virat Kohli. It's nearly superhuman, what he is able to do because he has such high intensity everytime he goes out to play. Watson said, about Kohli, who is currently ranked 10th in ICC Test batters, to Isa Guha when asked whom he rates as the best Test batsman on the ICC Review Show.

He then ranked Pakistani skipper Babar Azam at two following his heroics in the last couple of years. Azam has managed to score 769 runs in his last 10 test innings for Pakistan.&nbsp;



"Babar Azam is playing incredibly well. It's great to be able to see how he has adapted his game to really move his game to Test cricket as well. Babar Azam would probably be No.2 at the moment," pointed out Watson.



The Aussie kept his compatriot Steve Smith at third position followed by Kiwi skipper Kane Williamson, who is struggling a bit with his elbow injury. To end his list of fab 5, Watson named Joe Root for the final spot.



"Steve Smith has just started to come off a little bit. It looks like Smith has really started to play for time a little bit more and is not putting as much pressure on the bowlers as he did when was at his absolute best. For me, Steve has dropped down that list a little bit," added Watson.
