RPSG Group Appoints Lance Klusener as Head Coach of the Durban-based Team: RPSG Group, the team that acquired the ownership of the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL 2022 season has also acquired the ownership of the Durban Based team in the CSA T20 League. Talking about league sports in cricket, the CSA T20 League is the latest addition to the same. For a simpler understanding, it can be said to be the IPL of South Africa. South Africa earlier had something called the Mzansi Super League but that wasn?t a true success. <h2>Lance Klusener</h2>



Lance Klusener, one of the greatest all-rounders of the late 90s and an immensely talented player who was a part of the 1999 South Africa side has been appointed as the head coach of the Durban-based team. The team's name, logo, and jersey colours are all yet to be decided but Klusener will take the role of the head coach. ?



Klusener has previously been the head coach of the Afghanistan National Team, Dolphins (A domestic team in South Africa), Bangla Tigers (A team in the T10 league), Delhi Daredevils, Mumbai Indians (Batting-Coach), and as assistant coach of the Delhi-Ranji Team. &nbsp;



Klusener post retirement has contributed immensely to the sport. He completed a certified coaching training program provided by the CSA and based on that he has been getting so many roles across the globe. He was also supposed to be the permanent bowling coach of the Bangladesh side but as things didn?t fall in place, he denied the offer.&nbsp;



<h2>CSA T20 League</h2>



<ol><li>The Newlands, Cape Town-based franchise is owned by Reliance Group of Industries. They also own the Mumbai Indians in IPL. &nbsp;</li></ol>



<ol start="2"><li>The Kingsmead, Durban-based franchise is owned by Sanjeev Goenka?s RPSG Group. They also own the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL.&nbsp;</li></ol>



<ol start="3"><li>St George?s Park, Gqeberha (formerly known as Port Elizabeth)&nbsp;is owned by Sun TV Network Limited who also happen to be the owners of the Sunrisers Hyderabad. &nbsp;</li></ol>

The CSA T20 League and its expanse are extending by the minute. With 6 teams of the CSA T20 League belonging to the franchises from the IPL, the IPL franchises are intending to create a monopoly. Whether this monopoly works well for the game or not, only time will tell! But as long as the pockets of the players are full and the entertainment is provided, it is all fun and games. 25 plus players have signed up for the CSA T20 and reports from the ACB (Australian Cricket Board) suggest that Australian players will not be allowed to play in these other leagues. The Mumbai Indians are keen on making Kieron Pollard an honest servant and a player which they want to use to the fullest potential. They have signed up Polly, for two more leagues. They have picked him for the UAE T20 League and it is also learned that a contract has been drafted for the CSA T20 League. If Pollard accepts these contracts, he will become one of the top-flight freelance cricketers across the world. &nbsp;



Similarly, the KKR franchise that has a team in the CSA T20 League, has roped in two of their most amazing players for the team. Andre Russell and Sunil Narine will be playing for them in the league if they are fit and available. &nbsp;



<h2>Does this imply that Franchise Cricket is Over-Shadowing International Cricket?&nbsp;</h2>



A big question that Adam Gilchrist put forth was about the dominance and the monopolies nature of these franchises. Faf du Plessis to captain Johannesburg Super Kings, Stephen Fleming set to be appointed coach: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) head coach Stephen Fleming along with former CSK batter Faf du Plessis are set to be appointed in key positions in the Johannesburg Super Kings, a franchise owned by CSK in the CSA T20 League. The reports have emerged indicating that CSK will stick with its veterans in the commanding positions.



The CSA T20 League is the newly launched franchise-based cricket tournament by Cricket South Africa. The league is scheduled to be held in January and February next year.



Notably, Faf du Plessis is Johannesburg Super Kings? one of the five direct signings for the tournament. The franchise bought du Plessis by spending US$375,000 during the pre-signings. The other four signings made by JSK are Moeen Ali, Maheesh Theekshana, Romario Shephard and Gerald Coetzee.



However, it is still unsure whether Moeen Ali will participate in the CSA T20 League. The English all-rounder has shown interest in participating in the International League T20 (ILT20) competition. The scheduling of ILT20 and CSA T20 leagues are expected to clash, next year.



Faf?s was associated with CSK in the IPL for 10 long years in two different stints. He was a part of CSK setup from 2011 to 2015. The South African batter was later purchased in the IPL 2018 and he served the yellow franchise till 2021. He is currently linked with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League.

Du Plessis has played over 100 matches donning the yellow jersey in the IPL. He has also been part of CSK?s winning campaigns in the year 2011, 2018 and 2021. The IPL 2021 was by far his best performance as he mustered massive 633 runs in 16 outings for CSK.



The Protea batter has a rich captaincy experience and knows how Chennai Super Kings (CSK) operates which could be the reason why he is being mulled by the franchise as a captaincy candidate.



Meanwhile, veteran coach Stephen Fleming will be the head coach of Johannesburg Super Kings. Flemings will be assisted by Eric Simmons in the CSA T20 League.



Interestingly, a few reports have emerged that CSK is in the final stages of signing a contract with former Protea all-rounder Albie Morkel. However, there is no clarity about his role in the team.
