The official, though, didn?t reveal the actual auction strategy of the franchise but clearly mentioned that they will bid for the players who have been associated with CSK for a long time.



?It?s not ideal to reveal auction strategy but one can certainly expect us to go after players who have served CSK for long. But I won?t reveal the names we will probably target,? told the CSK source close to the development.

?CSK have been built and have been successful backing the players over a long period of time. We were forced to let the players go due to retention rules. So, you never know,? the source added.



With the total purse value of INR 48 Crores left, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will try to get as many possible options available. The auction is definitely not going to be a cakewalk for CSK as there are teams that have around 75 per cent of their purse value intact for the auction.



CSK skipper MS Dhoni has already reached Chennai to join the franchise for the mega auction 2022.?The source informed that MS will be available on call during the auction. His physical presence at the venue is highly unlikely due to the restrictions put by the BCCI on the number of attendees.



?MS is likely to be there. But it?s up to him. He will take a last-minute call depending on his engagements. Otherwise, he will remain available over phone. The attendance cap is something we all have to keep in mind. So, we will see how it goes,? the CSK source revealed.

Deepak Chahar sustained hamstring blow, doubtful for Sri Lanka series: Young Indian paceman, Deepak Chahar, is rendered doubtful for the forthcoming T20I series against Sri Lanka as he has pulled his right hamstring during the final T20I fixture against West Indies in Eden Gardens.



Chahar was seen in pain as he was wobbling up while delivering his final delivery of the second over. The seriousness of the blow Deepak Chahar has sustained is yet to be revealed by the Indian cricket board.



The pacer uprooted two crucial West Indies wickets in his first spell of two overs. Chahar sent back Shai Hope and Kyle Mayers to provide team India with a perfect start to begin the destruction of the visitors.



If the blow turns out to be serious, the Indian side won?t be too pleased with it. Chahar is very well in India's plans for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia and the Indian captain want to give him as many games as possible before the World Cup.

If the scans reveal a tear, then Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will miss the services of Deepak Chahar in the opening few weeks of the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. CSK forked out a handsome cheque for INR 14 Crores to Deepak Chahar to get his services.



A grade one hamstring tear usually takes six weeks to recover. While the time can get extended if there arise concerns of fitness.



Deepak Chahar will head to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) if he gets ruled out of the forthcoming T20I series against Sri Lanka. The pacer will undergo his rehabilitation period in the NCA.



India will host Sri Lanka for three T20Is and two test matches. The T20I series will begin on 26th February in Lucknow followed by two T20Is in Dharmshala, Himachal Pradesh.

Former Indian batting legend Sunil Gavaskar has poured praises on the current Indian bowling unit, which comprise Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Deepak Chahar, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami and Mohammad Siraj. During his chat with Star Sports, Gavaskar reckoned, ?India is blessed as far as riches in bowling are concerned.?



Despite not being an express pacer, Deepak Chahar can trouble the batsman with his both ways swinging deliveries. Gavaskar said that Chahar can move the delivery at a decent pace which makes it tricky for the batsman to play.



The former Indian cricketer also hailed experienced pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who can also move the deliveries both ways in the air.



?He is a terrific swing bowler. He has that extra pace as well. He isn?t express but he gets the ball to move at a decent pace which makes it difficult for a batsman. And he has got both the in-swinger and the out-swinger without a noticeable change in action. So when you have someone like him and have Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the bench after two fine performances in the series, India are blessed as far as riches in bowling are concerned,? said Gavaskar in a chat on Star Sports.



The 71-years old further applauded ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah for his sensational bowling. Gavaskar said Jasprit Bumrah can walk into any cricket team in the world right now.?

Bumrah has been India?s go-to bowler in any situation. He remains extremely economical despite bowling the most difficult overs in a match.&nbsp;



Of late, India has looked at Mohammad Siraj as the team?s most trusted third pacer in the test matches. He is consistently performing for the side and owing to which he has replaced the likes of Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav.



?Then you have Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami?spoilt for choices,? concluded Sunil Gavaskar.



Team India have recently whitewashed West Indies in three matches ODI and as many games T20I series. The Rohit Sharma-led side comprehensively registered a thumping win against the visitors.



For their next assignment, India will host Sri Lanka for two tests along with three ODIs, starting February 26.
