Vivo IPL 2021: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) star opener Devdutt Padikkal has been tested covid positive on Sunday. With him getting infected with the virus, the tally of covid positive IPL players reached 3.



According to RCB management, Padikkal has been separated from the rest of the squad and is sent into isolation.



Earlier, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batsman Nitish Rana and Delhi Capitals (DC) all-rounder Axar Patel were also tested positive for covid-19. However, the former batsman has been tested negative and is back with the KKR squad for the practice sessions.



Now Devdutt Padikkal is expected to miss at least two games for RCB. Virat Kohli and Co. are scheduled to play the tournament opener against Mumbai Indians (MI) on April 09th in Chennai.



Padikkal?s absence will certainly hit RCB back. The cricketer was in supreme form in the last season. In the delayed season of IPL, Padikkal scored 473 runs in 15 IPL games at an average of 31.53.



In the recent Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy, Devdutt Padikkal was in a scintillating form smacking bowlers all over the park. In the former tournament, he amassed 218 runs at 43.60 average while in the latter 50-overs tournament he piled up a massive 737 runs at an average of 147.40.



Virat Kohli will have to open the innings with another opener in the first couple of games, till Padikkal is not with the team. This could lead to team imbalance however they have ample options available to play at that position.



The ideal choice would be to opt for an Indian cricketer and Mohammad Azharuddeen will be the first choice. Azharuddeen had a fine domestic tour this year. He came into the limelight after scoring a century in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy playing for Kerala.



Kiwi cricketer Finn Allen and Rajat Patidar are two more options for Virat Kohli. It will be interesting to watch whom Kohli and RCB management chose as the first choice.

Vivo IPL 2021: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) rising star Devdutt Padikkal have been tested negative on his second test after he was tested positive on March 22. The Karnataka batsman was in isolation in his home in Bangaluru after he was infected with the virus.



However, it is almost certain that the cricketer will miss out on the season opener in Chennai?s MA Chidambaram Stadium against Mumbai Indians on 09th April due to the strict Standard Operating Protocols (SOPs) of BCCI.



According to the SOPs of IPL 2021, ?Players will only re-enter into bio-bubble of the franchise after they return with the negative test report in the 10 days isolation. RT-PCR tests will be done on the 09th and 10th day of the isolation and players will have to be negative on that. With that players will also have to be asymptomatic for 24 hours.?



Devdutt Padikkal will now have to undergo cardiac screening before he gets permission to resume his training in the nets. ?After recovery, players must undergo a cardiac screening before resuming any team activities,? the SOP reads.

RCB confirmed the development after the franchise posted a video on their social media handles, ?As per BCCI and IPL protocol, I had to quarantine at home for two weeks. Vivo IPL 2021: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) young star Devdutt Padikkal opens up about challenges faced during the middle overs in the last game however he reckons that the partnership with skipper Virat Kohli made it easy for him to score runs in those times.



Padikkal put all the slow talks about his form to rest as he registered his maiden IPL ton in the last game against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Thursday. RCB won the game by 10 wickets with almost four overs to spare.



?It?s about the situation of the game, I always have a particular role that I have to play and I have to do that as well as possible,? Padikkal said at the post-match press conference.



?Sometimes it is not easy to hit boundaries during the middle overs.?



?The wicket we played on today was good. Ball was coming nicely and we were having a good partnership so it became fairly easy to hit those boundaries because we were rotating the strikes regularly.?



When asked about his thought process when he was getting closer to his maiden IPL ton, Padikkal said he was not really looking for that as the team's victory is much more important.



?To be honest, I was looking to finish the game off at the earliest. That?s what mattered the most. When I was out there, I was not really thinking about getting my hundred.?



The 20-years old cricketer had a runs-packed season last year when he scored the most runs by a debutant Indian uncapped player in the IPL. He also won the ?Emerging Player of the Season? award for his sheer brilliance on the field.



A good IPL season last year was complemented by an impressive home season for Karnataka. The young cricketer scored huge runs and continued to keep his eye on the ball.

"Shubman Gill has been ruled out of the entire Test series in the UK with shin splints that will take a minimum of three months to heal. The team's administrative manager, at the end of last month, had sent an emailed requisition to former pacer Sharma asking for two more openers to be sent to the UK," PTI quoted a senior BCCI source privy to developments.



As per PTI, the chairman of selectors Chetan Sharma has not given any preference to management?s request for backup openers even after knowing about the magnitude of Gill?s injury.



Young opener Shubman Gill triggered his shin stress injury during the ICC World Test Championship final and is expected to fly back home and remain out of action for at least eight to ten weeks.



"The Sri Lanka series will end on July 26, both can be flown in. But I think, team management wants them to join before entering the bio-bubble in Durham," reports PTI.

?When Prithvi Shaw was not considered in the pool of 24 players who travelled, why should it be any different now? As for Devdutt Padikkal, well, he?s a great talent but doesn't deserve to be pushed to the wall like this. His time will come,? said a BCCI official.

India, now after facing rejection from the board, will go with Mayank Agarwal as Rohit Sharma?s partner in the opening slot. KL Rahul could also be a choice, but the management is trying to fit Rahul somewhere in the middle order.

BCCI and SLC informed that the series will go ahead as planned with just the delay of one day for the last two remaining T20Is, which means, 2nd T20I will be held on 28th July while the last T20I will be held on 29th July.



The report from BCCI and SLC also revealed that eight players of the Indian squad have come in contact with Krunal Pandya, who has been tested covid positive. Although all the eight close contacts have returned negative, all of them will not feature in the 2nd T20I and are isolated until the further call.



The eight contacted players include Prithvi Shaw, Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Devdutt Padikkal, Ishan Kishan, Krishnappa Gowtham and two other unnamed members of the Indian squad.

IND vs ENG: Former Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin has announced his playing XI for the first T20I against England. The match between the two teams is all set to take place on Wednesday (22nd January) at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
India and England will be locking horns with each other in the five-match T20I series. Both teams have a mixed combination of seniors and youngsters in the team, and with the way they have played of late, it's fair to say that it will be an exciting series to watch. 
Coming to the first T20I, Ravichandran Ashwin backed Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma to open the innings for the team. The duo has been doing a decent job together as an opener and would be hoping to carry on the same form in the upcoming first match. 
Sanju Samson was at his exceptional best in the T20Is last year as he slammed three tons. While on the other hand, Abhishek Sharma hasn't been able to maintain consistency. Hence the series will be extremely important for him with the bat. 
At No.3, Ravichandran Ashwin picked Tilak Varma. The left-hander oozed his class with the bat in the last series against South Africa. He batted at No.3 and slammed two back-to-back centuries. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav, as per Ashwin, will bat at No.4.
Hardik Pandya, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Axar Patel are the three all-rounders picked by Ravichandran Ashwin in his Indian XI for the first IND vs ENG T20I. They are expected to play a major role with the bat and ball. 
Rinku Singh also has been picked by Ravichandran Ashwin in his Indian XI for the first IND vs ENG team. He will be taking the role of finisher while there was no place for Ravi Bishnoi, who hard has put a foot wrong in his T20I career. Varun Chakravarthy will be there as per Ashwin.

Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali talked about the delay in the squad of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 for the Pakistan team. He said that it might look like they are scared of announcing the team, but it seems that they don't know what to do. 
The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is around the corner and all the teams have named their squad for the tournament except the hosts Pakistan. The Men in Green are yet to announce the team even though the deadline of 12th January has already been surpassed by a long margin. 
India, Australia, England, South Africa, New Zealand, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan have all revealed their squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. This has made many speculate about why Pakistan isn't announcing their squad for the tournament, which is less than one month away. 
There have been several reports that Pakistan will be announcing their squad for the tournament soon. They are awaiting the fitness of a few players, and hence, they will soon be naming the team. Some reports also have revealed the players who will be playing, but an official announcement is yet to come.

"Pakistan kya darr gaya jo abhi tak team announce nahi ki? Nahi dara nahi hai. Samajh nahi aa rahi hai -- karein to kya karein? (Is Pakistan scared to announce their squad? No, it isn't, just unsure what to do and what not). The biggest issue is whether Saim Ayub can return fit or not. It's still not clear." 
It remains to be seen when will Pakistan announce the squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The tournament is all set to take place from 19th February, with the final all set to be played on 9th March.

Pakistan squad for ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is yet to be announced {PC:X}

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has issued a warning to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) over the jersey controversy ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. This comes after the Indian governing body refused to write 'Pakistan' on their kits for the tournament. 
The ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which is all set to be hosted by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), is scheduled to begin on 19th February. The preparations for the tournament are on, and the ICC and the PCB are taking every step possible to make sure that everything is right on track. 
However, a controversy recently erupted after BCCI refused to write Pakistan on their jersey for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Notably, every participating nation, as per the ICC policy, has to write the name of the host nation below the logo of the tournament on their jersey. 
After BCCI refused to sport it, Pakistan Cricket Board officials made a strong statement, saying that BCCI is trying to use politics in every matter. He, however, mentioned that they are hopeful that ICC will support them and India will be asked to write the name of the jersey on their kits for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Following this, BCCI also reacted, and the insider from the governing body said that since they are playing in Dubai, it isn't mandatory for them to wear the 'Pakistan written jersey'. The BCCI also stressed that they didn't write Pakistan's name on the podium of the Trophy tours as well. 
Amid all this, ICC has come up with a strong response for the BCCI. An ICC official mentioned that it is the responsibility of the host nation to add the tournament logo to their jersey. He stated: 
"It is the responsibility of every team to add the tournament logo to their jerseys. All teams are obligated to comply with this rule," an ICC official said as per A-Sports, as quoted by NDTV. 
Not only this, it is learned that the ICC also warned BCCI that they would be taking strict action if they didn't wear the Pakistan-written jersey during the tournament.
