The Indian cricket board seems to be miffed with head coach Ravi Shastri and the skipper of the team Virat Kohli for being a part of a public gathering in London post which Shastri and a few others had tested covid positive during the fourth test at Oval. BCCI has slammed Ravi Shastri, head coach, and Virat Kohli, skipper, for making an unnecessary appearance in the event.



Head coach Ravi Shastri had tested covid positive on Saturday evening while bowling coach Bharat Arun and fielding coach R Sridhar and physio Nitin Patel were identified as his close contact. The four mentioned were immediately sent into isolation while the rest of the Indian contingent was cleared to play the test match after a series of the covid negative reports.



The entire Indian contingent touring England for a long five matches test series attended a book launch event in London ahead of the Oval test match where the room was jam-packed with the outsiders. It is also learnt that the team hadn?t sought any official approval from the BCCI to make their presence in the book launch event.

The images from the event were circulated all over the internet and a few of them were also sent to the BCCI for further probe. The board will have a look into the matter and the skipper along with the head coach will be liable for interrogation. The report also indicates that the administrative manager of the Indian team Girish Dongre is also under the BCCI?s scanner.



A few reports from British media confirms that the Indian management didn?t either seek approbation from the England Cricket Board (ECB).?

<h2>BCCI wants a complete wrap of the test series without any hinderance:</h2>



?As of now, the BCCI is in constant talks with ECB and wants to ensure the test series completion without any further hindrance. The board also wants Shastri to recover soon,? a close BCCI official source informed.



The source also claimed that the board have scheduled a meet on Wednesday to discuss the T20 World Cup squad and the matter of breach could be raised there.&nbsp;



The incident left the Indian board a little embarrassed because Jay Shah, secretary of BCCI, forewarned the touring team to have a little caution and refrain from attending the crowded places. The notice was released by Mr Shah after a few members of the Indian team tested covid positive ahead of the series opener.



It can't be convincingly said that Ravi Shastri fell sick only after attending the event. The lift in the team hotel which the Indian team use is also used by other guests in the hotel. However, the BCCI feels that the presence in the event was unnecessary and could have been skipped.



Team India won the fourth test match at the Oval in the absence of head coach Ravi Shastri and a few other support staff members, who are currently serving isolation. Virat Kohli and Co made a turnaround after getting reduced below 200 in the first innings. The team showed character to crush the hosts in the fourth test match by 157 runs.

England named squad for the 5th Test match against India: The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Tuesday revealed the England squad for the 5th test match against India at Manchester. The hosts have included the likes of Jos Buttler and Jack Leach in the squad for the final test at Old Trafford.



Wicketkeeper-batsman Buttler was unavailable for the fourth test match due to the birth of his second child. Jonny Bairstow took the wicketkeeping duties in Buttler?s absence in a fourth test match at Oval.

James Anderson may also miss out on the final test due to the heavy workload. England?s pace spearhead is active since the beginning of the series and management is not sure about his fitness for the final test.



"He [Anderson] and I will have a conversation together, he will have input into that without a shadow of a doubt, James knows his own body and he will certainly give me an honest opinion of where he is at, and it is certainly one I will listen to. The first choice option will be Mayank Agarwal. The opener was about to open alongside Rohit Sharma in the ongoing test series, however, a nasty bouncer from Mohammad Siraj in the practice sessions ahead of the first test blocked his way in the tour. KL Rahul replaced Agarwal and sealed a spot for him with Rohit by giving India a solid start in almost all matches.



Agarwal has smacked two double centuries in the test format and has a beautiful technique to handle the bowlers during the initial phase. He loves to keep the scoreboard moving even during hard phases of the match.



<h3>Prithvi Shaw:</h3>



Prithvi Shaw, who was drafted in as a replacement in between the tours, will be another option with Virat Kohli. Although Shaw is very unlikely to pad up for the batting, he can be a good option.&nbsp;



The young Indian star was sidelined by Indian selectors after his horrible outing in the last Australia tour. His last match was in Adelaide where he returned with a duck and four in two innings.&nbsp;

ENGvsIND: England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) reportedly approached the global cricket body to resolve the dispute following the call off of the fifth test match at Manchester between India and England. The Dispute Resolution Committee (DRC) of the ICC is now on action to deduce the outcome of the final test match.



The covid 19 outbreak in the Indian camp gave jitters to the visitors and the cricketers showed their apprehensions to the ECB and the BCCI on playing. As many as five support staff of Indian management returned positive for the dreaded covid virus which led to players show their reluctance to play the match.



As ECB has already written to the ICC, the cricket board will press its case for the forfeiture of the final test match by the Indians which would help them to claim the insurance of the losses incurred and also gain the much-needed points to level the series.&nbsp;



Meanwhile, the Indian players and cricket board has repeatedly stated that the team hasn?t forfeited the test match.



Both the participating cricket boards have agreed to re-schedule the test match next year. Tom Harrison, ECB CEO has, however, stated that the match will be played stand-alone and will not be part of the test series.

"Look, the one-off Test that BCCI has proposed will be standalone as Tom Harrison has said. Which means that it is not a part of this series. Therefore, if ICC decides that Indian cricket team which twice tested negative in RT-PCR was 'unable to field' the team due to Covid-19, then it will be acceptable non-compliance," a source in the know of things said.



However, if the verdict goes in India?s favour, ECB will have to bear all the losses of GBP 40 Million and no compensation will be given to the cricket board.



ECB will have fair grounds to claim compensation if it proves the case of forfeiture and the series will be adjudicated 2-2.



In the meantime, the IPL franchises have decided to bring their respective players to the UAE via charter flights.



Mumbai Indians Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah and Suryakumar Yadav have already landed in the UAE while CSK and RCB players are soon expected to reach the destination.

The media reports from the UK along with several former England cricketers alleged India for prioritising IPL more than Test cricket which resulted in the fifth test call off. The stories further covered that the Indian board runs behind money and the cash-rich Indian T20 league is always their area of concern.



Shedding curtains on all the allegations, speaking to The Telegraph, Ganguly asserted that the Indian cricketers feared contracting Covid after their assistant physio Yogesh Parmer was tested covid positive on the eve of the fifth test match.



"No, no, the BCCI will never be an irresponsible board. We value other boards too," Ganguly was quoted as saying by The Telegraph when asked whether IPL played a role in the calling off of the fifth Test.



Parmer, the only physio left with the Indian team, had also tested positive and Indians were left stranded for the final test match. Moreover, he was in close contact with almost all Indian players including the likes of Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara, Mohammad Shami and Ishant Sharma who sustained minor niggles during the fourth test match.

"The players refused to play but you can't blame them. Physio Yogesh Parmar was such a close contact of the players. Being the only one available after Nitin Patel isolated himself, he mixed freely with the players and even performed their COVID-19 tests. He also used to give them a massage, he was part of their everyday lives.... The players were devastated when they came to know that he had tested positive for COVID-19," Ganguly said.



<h2>Sourav Ganguly wants fifth test to be part of test series, ECB denies:</h2>



The BCCI wants the standalone Manchester Test to be part of the five matches test series, which will be rescheduled at a later date, while the ECB is asserting to wrap the test series and schedule the test match as an independent fixture.



ECB has also written to the ICC?s Dispute Resolution Committee (DRC) in similar regards. The fate of the test match is in ICC?s hands now. Several rounds of hearings will be arranged to get to the final verdict.



If ICC concludes it as COVID-19 cancellation, the test series will go in India?s bag with 2-1 lead and no compensation will be provided to the Lancashire County Cricket Club, however, if it goes in ECB?s favour, the insurance of around GBP 40 Million will be provided to cover the loss along with one match point to neutralise India's lead.

ENGvsIND: Team India?s batting mainstay Rohit Sharma reckons that the recent test series against England is won by the?Indian?s and the final decision from the ICC should come into the favour of the visitors.?



During the sports apparel giant Adidas? campaign ?Impossible Is Nothing,? Rohit Sharma said that he doesn?t exactly know what is brewing up for the final abandoned test match, but the test series is won by India by 2-1.



?I don?t know what?s happening with the last Test match. Whether we are playing a one-off Test (next year) but in my mind we have won the series 2-1,? said Rohit Sharma.



It is noteworthy that the final test match of the five matches series was abandoned after the junior physio of the Indian team tested covid positive and he was found in close contact with a number of Indian players. Prior to the incident, a few other senior officials of the Indian management including head coach Ravi Shastri, bowling coach B Arun, fielding coach R Sridhar and physio Nitin Patel were also tested covid positive and were undergoing their isolation.



"Due to fears of a further increase in the number of COVID cases inside the camp, India are regrettably unable to field a team," said ECB in a statement.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has already accepted to complete the series next year in June, however, is against the view to schedule the test match as a one-off. <h2>It's not my best Test series: Rohit Sharma</h2>



Rohit Sharma was asked, whether the test series against England was his best series as he has scored over 400 runs in four matches which include a century and two half-centuries, the cricketer replied, ?It?s not my best series.?



?It was a good one considering where I was standing in my Test career. It?s not my best series. I feel my best is yet to come. I utilised the time before the World Test Championship final in Southampton (to figure) what sort of technique and mindset is required. I was pretty happy and would like to take it further.?

Team India begin training for the one-off test against England: The Indian team has landed in the United Kingdom and has begun their preparations for the all-important one-off rescheduled test match against England. The men in blue arrived in London on Thursday and kickstarted their training on Friday.



The one-off Test between England and India will begin on July 1 in Edgbaston, Birmingham.&nbsp;



The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday shared a few photos of the first batch of Indian team visiting England doing their warmups. The likes of Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, Cheteshwar Pujara, Hanuma Vihari, and Mohammad Siraj are the first ones from the Indian contingent to land in London for the rescheduled test.



?Out and about in London#TeamIndia,? tweeted the social media handle of the Indian cricket board as it shared a few pictures of the Indian team warming up.

Skipper Rohit Sharma, who was absent in the first batch of Indians flying to the UK, has also landed in London for his preparations ahead of the traditional format match.



Notably, the Indian side will play a four-day warm-up match against Leicestershire before heading for the cracking red-ball contest against England. The warm-up match will begin on June 24.



It is important to note that the rescheduled test match will be a continuation of the five matches series, that happened last year. Due to a string of covid cases, the Indian side was unable to field a proper playing xi against England in the fifth test match due to which the game was cancelled at the 11th hour. Later both the cricket board decided to reschedule the match.



Currently, team India is leading the five-match series by 2-1.



Following the one-off test match, India is also slated to lock horns against England in the white-ball format. India and England will play three T20Is followed by as many ODIs in the tour.

Team India hit by Covid, likely to hamper test preparations for 5th Test against England: Team India?s test preparations for the one-off rescheduled fifth test match against England in Leicestershire has been struck by covid-19 as a couple of players have been infected with the dreaded virus. The reports have revealed that two senior players have contracted the virus.



Notably, veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who hasn?t travelled with the Indian squad to England, has been tested positive for covid-19. He was tested covid positive before his departure to England.



Although Ashwin will miss the warm-up match, he is expected to recover on time for the one-off test match against England which starts on July 1 in Birmingham.



"Ashwin hasn't travelled with the squad to UK as he has tested positive for Covid-19 before departure," a BCCI source told PTI. "But we are hopeful that he will recover well in time before the Test match starts on July 1. However he might miss the practice game against Leicestershire."



It has also been learnt that former skipper Virat Kohli too struck covid after returning from his holiday in the Maldives. Kohli, though, has recovered and was seen practicing with his teammates ahead of the four-day practice match against Leicestershire, starting June 24.

"Yes, Virat too was hit by Covid after returning from holidaying in Maldives, but he's recovered now," a source told.



The medical protocol won?t allow Virat Kohli, who has just recovered from covid-19, to undergo intense training and exercises ahead of the test match.



"This now means that India's tour game against Leicestershire from June 24 won't be as intense as coach Rahul Dravid wanted it to be, since the medical advice is to not overload the players after they've suffered Covid-19. There could be more Covid cases in the team,? revealed the source.

The first batch of the Indian team landed in England on June 16. Following a couple of days rest, the Indian contingent began their training. The likes of Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami and others were seen sweating out in the nets to hone their skills.
