Vivo IPL 2021: Former Indian cricketer and KKR skipper Gautam Gambhir heaps praise on the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) pacer Harshal Patel for his outstanding presentation of abilities for his team in the Vivo Indian Premier League (IPL) season fourteen.



The Gujrat-born RCB pacer has been phenomenal in the ongoing edition of the IPL. The pacer has managed to pick wickets on most occasions with a remarkable average. Harshal Patel is currently holding the purple cap with 26 wickets from 12 matches.



In spite of bowling the toughest overs in a T20 match, Patel has managed to keep his economy under 8.5 and averages 14.34. As per the stats, the pacer has been picking up wickets in every 10.23 delivery he bowls in the Vivo IPL 2021.



Gambhir, while speaking with ESPNcricinfo, praised the pacer?s abilities and efforts to successfully deliver in most difficult overs.

Top expensive players to watch in Tata IPL 2022: The fifteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has already begun to elate its fans and supporters with the mega auction just around the corner. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has stamped on 12th and 13th February as the two days to conduct the Tata IPL 2022 Mega Auction in Bangalore.



Weeks ahead of the mega auction, the BCCI released a list of players who have enrolled to take part in the much-awaited IPL 2022 Mega Auction. As per the report, as many as 1,214 players have filled up the mega auction form.



Every IPL franchise will enter the mega auction with the sole intention to construct a formidable squad that can serve the franchise for at least three years. Moreover, several reports have claimed that the Tata IPL 2022 mega auction is going to be the last mega auction conducted by the BCCI.?So, the teams are going to give their all to form a strong squad.



For a quick recap, during the player retentions, as many as 33 players were retained by the 10 IPL franchises, which includes the six draft picks of the two new IPL teams. The rest of the other players, who aren?t retained by their previous teams, will head to the auction table, thereby causing a bidding war and getting a new franchise or perhaps storming again into their previous franchise.



Ahead of the mega auction, experts and cricket pundits have suggested their top players, who according to them will bag a massive amount in the mega auction and fans should watch their performance in the IPL 2022. Jharkhand young wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan made himself unavailable for the selection of three draft picks for the two new IPL teams. As per the reports, Ahmedabad, one of the two new IPL franchises, badly wanted to get Ishan Kishan on board, however, the southpaw declined the offer and chose to go at the auction table.



Ishan Kishan couldn't find a sure shot place for himself in Mumbai?s retention list as the franchise opted to go with Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav and Kieron Pollard as their top four retentions.



However, Mumbai knows the abilities of Ishan Kishan who showed encouraging signs at the latter part of the IPL 2021. He formed a daunting opening pair with Rohit Sharma in IPL 2021?s last league matches and scored quickfire runs to improve his chances of getting a hefty contract.



Interestingly, Ishan Kishan is the one who can change the course of a match with his sheer power hitting. The southpaw mustered 84 (32) and 50 (25) runs in the last two matches which clearly shows his prowess to suppress the opposition.

Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder, Shardul Thakur is also going to get a monstrous deal in the upcoming mega auction. CSK retained the likes of Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni, Moeen Ali and Ruturaj Gaikwad and unfortunately, Lord Shardul couldn?t make it to that list.

According to the latest stats, Purple cap winners get a prize money of 10 lakhs and a trophy for their achievement.&nbsp;

1. Harshal Patel - We must start the list with the winner of IPL 2021?s Purple cap winner himself, Harshal Patel. The Indian pacer was simply sensational last season and he broke many records too.&nbsp;



He picked up 32 wickets in IPL 2021, which is the highest any bowler has ever accomplished in an IPL season, tied with Dwayne Bravo. Dwayne Bravo achieved the same feat in IPL 2013 with Chennai Super Kings.&nbsp;



The only viable reason for Royal Challengers Bangalore not retaining Harshal Patel might be a financial one as the bowler might not have wanted to be their fourth retention. If that be true, we must admit that he made a wise decision as all the IPL teams will be more than ready to buy the in-form star given his performance last year?s performance.&nbsp;



However, Patel has not been that consistent over the years. In reality, 2021 was the only year wherein he got a chance to prove himself and before this, his best season was back in 2015 when he picked up 17 wickets.&nbsp;



Harshal Patel got his maiden call-up from Team India last year itself after he won the Purple cap and he did pretty well in his debut series. Patel undoubtedly has full potential to win the Purple Cap award this year as well.&nbsp;

2. Kagiso Rabada - Next on the list is IPL 2020 purple cap winner Kagiso Rabada. He won the award in 2020 after picking up 30 wickets. Unlike Harshal Patel, however, he has been consistent in every IPL season he has played and thus he has a better shot at winning the Purple cap this season as compared to Harshal Patel.&nbsp;



He picked up 25 wickets in IPL 2019, 30 wickets in IPL 2020 and 15 wickets in IPL 2021. It was shocking as to why Delhi Capitals did not retain him but at the end of the day, every team can retain only 4 players each and DC made their choices accordingly.&nbsp;



It was earlier rumored that Kagiso Rabada will be drafted by one of the two new franchises (Lucknow and Ahmedabad) but they too decided later that they were better off without him.&nbsp;



Kagiso Rabada will thus head on to the Mega Auction and all the teams will be ready to bid high for him. Afterall he is one of the best bowlers in the World right now. Moreover, the thirst to prove Delhi Capitals and the two new franchises wrong will push Rabada to break his own records. 3. Trent Boult - Like Harshal Patel and Kagiso Rabada, Trent Boult was also not retained by his team despite giving a tremendous performance in the last few seasons. Trent Boult made a brilliant duo with Jasprit Bumrah at Mumbai Indians and he was one of the prime reasons that led to Mumbai Indians winning the 2019 IPL trophy.&nbsp;



Although Mumbai Indians let go of him ahead of IPL 2022, he will not lack suitors in the Mega Auction as he is arguably the best bowler in the world right now across all formats.&nbsp;



Trent Boult picked up 25 wickets in IPL 2020 and 15 wickets in IPL 2021. Although he is yet to win a Purple cap award, 2022 can finally be his year and he can prove his worth with a new franchise.&nbsp;

4. Rashid Khan - Rashid Khan is the only spinner on this list and the only one who deserves to be. Afterall he is the best spinner the world has seen in a long time and it would be unjust to not mention the Afghan mystery man.&nbsp;



Rashid Khan made his IPL debut in 2017 for Sunrisers Hyderabad and he had been with the franchise ever since, until this year. After IPL 2021, Sunrisers Hyderabad let go of Rashid Khan and the Ahmedabad franchise drafted him in for 15 crores.&nbsp;



He picked up 17 wickets in 2017, 21 wickets in 2018, 17 wickets in 2019, 20 wickets in 2020 and 18 wickets in 2021. He too has never won the Purple cap award before despite coming close on many occasions but now that he will have a fresh start with a new team, he has big chances of doing something big in IPL 2022.&nbsp;

5. Jasprit Bumrah - There is no doubt that for the last 5 years, Jasprit Bumrah has consistently been one of the best bowlers in the world across all formats and when it comes to IPL, there are not many players as compatible as Bumrah.



He has picked up at least 17 wickets in all of the last five seasons and his personal best came in 2020 when he picked up 27 wickets. That year he lost the Purple cap to Kagiso Rabada by just 3 wickets. Unfortunately, Jasprit Bumrah is yet to get his hands on the prestigious purple cap award.&nbsp;

RCB?s Harshal Patel exits team?s bio bubble to meet his family, following sister?s demise: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) premier pacer Harshal Patel has left his side?s bio-bubble in Pune due to his sister?s sudden passing away. As per the reports of Dainik Jagaran, Patel exited RCB?s controlled environment after getting to know of a family member?s demise yesterday.



Patel has been performing brilliantly for RCB in the past few matches. The experienced pacer scalped twin wickets against Mumbai Indians (MI) in Pune and helped his side clinch an easy win against misaligned MI.



"Unfortunately, Harshal had to leave the bio-bubble due to a death in his family. It was his sister. He did not take the team bus back to Mumbai from Pune," said an IPL source.



The sources further informed that Harshal will again join his side?s bio-bubble before RCB?s match against Chennai Super Kings on April 12.



"He will be rejoining the bubble before the next game against CSK on April 12."



Harshal Patel wasn?t retained by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) ahead of the player auction 2022, however, the franchise gave it all to bag his services during the auction. Duo to aggressive bidding by RCB, Harshal Patel pocketed INR 10.75 crores at the mega auction.



The right arm death bowling specialist has already justified his price tag by providing RCB with steady death bowling. The pacer has been giving his team timely breakthroughs.



The pacer has uprooted six wickets in four Tata IPL 2022 games so far. Moreover, the speedster has maintained an impressive economy of 5.50.
