<p><strong>BCCI in trouble, ICC 2023 ODI World Cup could move out of India: </strong>The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) looks in deep trouble as there is a good possibility of it losing the hosting rights of the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup 2023. Recently, Ramiz Raja, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chair, has raised a query about whether the ICC is confident enough to host the next 50-over World Cup in India.</p>



<p>All this happened due to the underlying situation between India and Pakistan in the recent past. While it all began with Jay Shah, BCCI secretary, saying that the Indian side will not travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023. In response to this, Ramiz Raja threatened to boycott the next 50-over World Cup in India if India doesn?t visit Pakistan for the Asia Cup.</p>



<p>The PCB head has also blamed the International Cricket Council (ICC) for not intervening in the matter and doing sufficient to bring both teams on the same page. He also accused the governing body for not ensuring smooth cricketing ties between India and Pakistan.</p>



<p>Further, in the latest development, Ramiz Raja has asked whether the ICC is certain to host the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 in India owing to tax-related issues.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Notably, when a country hosts a World Cup event, it has to provide ICC with tax exemptions from the ruling government. The last time when India hosted an ICC World Cup in 2016, ICC received an interim tax benefit to hold a 10.3% surcharge from India?s revenue share - for which the Indian cricket board is fighting a legal battle.</p>



<p>For the upcoming World Cup, which is supposed to be held in India, the ICC has again received an interim tax benefit, however, the BCCI isn?t too pleased with it.</p>

<p>It?s important to note that, the Indian government didn?t give a tax benefit to ICC during the World Cup 2016. As a result, ICC deducted roughly INR 190 Crores from BCCI?s annual revenue share. If BCCI once again fails to solve the tax issue for the 2023 World Cup, it may end up losing a whopping sum of INR 900 Crores as the tax bill has been raised to 21.84%.</p>



<p>?It?s BCCI?s money. If the ICC can?t settle this issue before the World Cup arrives and end up deducting it from India?s revenue share from the ICC, even this will end up in a legal battle,? say those tracking developments.</p>



<p>The ICC has asked to solve the issue with the Indian government as soon as possible. If BCCI fails to do that, ICC will be left with a single choice of moving the 50-over World Cup out of India.</p>



<p>As per the ICC rules, the hosting nation has to provide tax exemptions from the ruling government for the World Cup. </p>

<p><strong>BCCI shortlist 20 cricketers for World Cup 2023, BCCI review meeting overview: </strong>The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken a timely step to maintain and rotate the 20 shortlisted cricketers on regular basis in the lead-up to the ODI World Cup 2023. The move comes in wake of players' frequent injury reports and following India's disappointing performance in the T20 World Cup 2022.</p>



<p>A review meeting was organised by the BCCI on 1st January 2023 to draw an outline for the upcoming ODI World Cup which will be held in India. The discussion involved shortlisting the set of potential cricketers who will perform for the team and keeping a check on their fitness and workload management throughout the season.</p>



<p>?The BCCI has shortlisted 20 players who will be rotated till the 50 overs ICC World Cup,? BCCI secretary Jay Shah said after the review meeting in Mumbai.?</p>

<li>National Cricket Academy (NCA) will have the final say on players fitness. </li>



<li>Cricketers will be picked in the Indian squad only if they get a green signal from the NCA officials.</li>



<li>The officials also touched on the issue of players' workload management, availability and frequent injuries.</li>



<li>The Yo-Yo test and Dexa will now play an essential role in the selection of a player on the national side. </li>



<li>NCA and the IPL franchise will work in tandem to maximise the player's potential and at the same time to manage their workload.</li>

<p>The format of the <a href="https://www.icccricketschedule.com/icc-world-cup-2023-schedule-team-time-table-squad-venue-matches-points-table-complete-details/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">ICC World Cup 2023</a> is similar to what we saw in the 2019 World Cup. All 10 teams will compete in the round-robin followed by the knockout fixtures. A team will play against nine opponents once in the round-robin stage. <p>India and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have won the hosting rights to the quadrennial tournament in 2023. It will be the first time India will host an ODI World Cup all by itself. Back in 2011, India hosted the ODI World Cup along with Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. India has hosted the Cricket World Cup twice before, in 1987 and 1996.</p>

<p>A total of 10 teams will play in the ICC World Cup in 2023. India, being the host, will get the privilege of automatic qualification to the showcase event. <p>Meanwhile, the remaining two teams will be decided after the ICC World Cup 2023 Qualifiers. The remaining five teams in the ICC World Cup 2023 Super League, the top 3 teams from World Cup League 2, and the top two teams from the World Cup Qualifier Play-off will compete in the ICC World Cup 2023 Qualifier. The top two teams will get entry to the ODI World Cup 2023 along with the aforementioned eight teams.</p>

<p><strong>ICC Cricket World Cup 2023: </strong>India vs Australia three-match ODI series is slated to begin on March 17 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The two sides will then head to Vishakhapatnam and Chennai for the other two ODI games. Although the IND vs AUS ODI series won't add any value to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 Super League Points Table, it would help the two participating sides gear up for the marquee event which will be held later this year.</p>



<p>England topped the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 Super League Points Table after bashing Bangladesh in the second ODI in Dhaka. After being asked to bat first, England batters racked up 326 runs in 50 overs, thanks to Jason Roy's fine century and valiant contributions from skipper Jos Buttler, Moeen Ali and Sam Curran.</p>



<p>In pursuit of 326 runs total, Bangladesh was rocked earlier on in their innings by pacer Sam Curran who scalped three wickets in his first spell. Later on in the game, Adil Rashid joined Curran's way to dismiss the Bangladeshi middle and lower order. Eventually, owing to Curran and Rashid's four wickets each, England were able to bundle out Bangladesh at 194 runs and won the contest by 132 runs.</p>



<p>The win in the second ODI also ensured the series win for England, after having won the opening game as well by three wickets. England will now look to clean-sweep Bangladesh on their soil to wrap up the three-match ODI series.</p>



<p>England was rewarded with 20 points owing to the two victories against Bangladesh and now has 155 rating points in 23 games so far. They are placed atop the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 Super League Points Table and are followed by New Zealand with 150 rating points from 21 games.</p>



<p>The third place in the ranking is taken up by India with 139 points from 21 matches. Meanwhile, Pakistan, Australia and Bangladesh sit in 4th, 5th and 6th place respectively.</p>



<p>Interestingly, seven teams have already qualified for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 owing to their good ranking in the points table, which include - England, New Zealand, India (host), Pakistan, Australia, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.</p>

<p><strong>ICC ODI World Cup 2023 - Pakistan won't travel to India, wants its games to be held in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh: </strong>The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has expressed its desire to not travel to India and play its ICC ODI World Cup 2023 matches in either Sri Lanka or Bangladesh, if team India doesn't visit Pakistan for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023. The ICC ODI World Cup 2023 is scheduled to be held in India, later this year.</p>



<p>Some media reports quoted, Wasim Khan, ICC GM and ex-CEO of PCB, as saying that Pakistan's ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 matches will be held in a neutral venue.</p>



<p>Notably, the development came after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) held a meeting to adopt a hybrid model to host the Asia Cup 2023, which is originally slated to be held in Pakistan. The hybrid model allows Pakistan to host the Asia Cup 2023 on its own soil in the first part of September, but India's matches will be held in a neutral venue. </p>



<p>Interestingly, if India and Pakistan, both reach the final, the summit clash of the Asia Cup 2023 would be held outside Pakistan, in a neutral venue.</p>



<p>Further reports say that the PCB will adopt the same model for the upcoming marquee ICC event which will be held in October-November in India.</p>



<p>"Yes, we are thinking that we will not travel to India for World Cup matches if BCCI didn't send their team to Pakistan for Asia Cup. We want Sri Lanka or Bangladesh to host our matches, we want to play there not in India," said a PCB source to ANI.</p>



<p>However, ICC has distanced itself from such claims. The ICC official said that the preparations for the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 are undergoing full swing in India.</p>



<p>?As far as we are concerned, everything is full speed for a full event in India later this year," an ICC official said.</p>



<p>While India's apex cricket body is ready to negotiate Asia Cup 2023 to be held in Pakistan and just India matches to move out, it is not in any mood to move an inch for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.</p>



<p>Notably, this will be the first instance when India has received full authority to host a complete ICC ODI World Cup. The 2011 World Cup was hosted jointly by India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.</p>



<p>This year's World Cup will be held in a similar fashion as it was held in England back in 2019. All 10 teams played against each other once before the knockouts, which means nine games per team during the group stage.</p>



<p>The complete schedule for ICC ODI World Cup 2023 is yet to be revealed by the International Cricket Council (ICC). It is expected to be out in a couple of weeks from here.</p>

<p><strong>ICC ODI World Cup 2023 Super League Points Table: </strong>South Africa upset Netherlands in the final test of a three-match ODI series shutting down all the hopes of Netherlands to automatic qualification to the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. This win has, however, put South Africa in the top-8 of the ICC ICC ODI World Cup 2023 Super League Points Table.</p>



<p>This ODI series of SA vs NED was started back in November 2021 when the first match was washed out by rain and ended with no result. Classy 95* from Kyle Verreynne set the tone for the proteas and South Africa set a respectable total of 277/8. The second innings was washed out by rain and the match was called off.</p>



<p>Due to the risk of the CoVid-19 new variant rapidly spreading over that part of the globe, both boards decided to indefinitely postpone the series. The series was now reconsidered in 2023 where the remaining two matches were scheduled for 31st March and 2nd April.</p>

<p>It is learned that the <a href="https://www.bcci.tv" data-type="URL" data-id="https://www.bcci.tv">Board of Control for Cricket in India</a> (BCCI) have shortlisted 12 venues in Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Mumbai, Rajkot, Bengaluru, Delhi, Indore, Mohali, Guwahati and Hyderabad. Much like all the World Cups, India vs Pakistan will be the highlight of the tournament. However, it?ll be a special game this time around as they will play in India.?</p>

<p>ICC ODI World Cup 2023: In what has been the latest development, as per the reports in PTI, it is learned that Pakistan is likely to play most of its World Cup 2023 games in Chennai and Kolkata. The reports suggest that the Pakistan Cricket Board has chosen the venues themselves as they felt that it will be the two safest venues to play.?</p>



<p><em>"A lot will depend on what BCCI and the Indian government decide but given a choice, Pakistan will like to play most of its World Cup matches in Kolkata and Chennai. In Kolkata, Pakistan played its T20 World Cup game against India in 2016 and the players were very happy with the security. Similarly, Chennai as a venue remains memorable for Pakistan. <p>Pakistan?s participation in the World Cup so far remains in jeopardy due to the tensions between India and Pakistan related to the Asia Cup. The tournament is slated to take place in Pakistan but BCCI has clearly said that they won?t travel to the country for the tournament due to security reasons.?</p>



<p>Various reports have suggested that PCB have said that if India doesn?t travel for the Asia Cup they also will not go to India for the World Cup. Although there?s no confirmation about the same PCB Chairman Najam Sethi recently said that they are willing to travel to India for World Cup they are ready to boycott Asia Cup if India doesn?t come to Pakistan.&nbsp;</p>
