IND vs AFG 2nd T20I: 2 Changes Team India can make in 2nd T20I against Afghanistan: After comfortably winning the 1st T20I against Afghanistan in Mohali, Team India is now all set to lock horns for the 2nd fixture of the three-match T20I series. The India vs Afghanistan 2nd T20I will be held in Indore's Holkar Stadium on 14th January, starting at 7:00 PM IST.



Rohit Sharma-led Team India won the 1st T20I comfortably in Mohali owing to the team's complete performance. For the most part of the innings, the Indian bowlers were disciplined and made the batters do extra work for every single run. 



On a good batting surface, the Afghans were restricted to a meagre score of 158 runs, thanks to the Indian bowlers who kept run-scoring under control. 



On the batting front as well, though, not many batters could muster high scores, but decent partnerships were always there. Young Tilak Varma and Shivam Dube were engaged in a 44-run partnership followed by another 45-run partnership between Shivam Dube and Jitesh Sharma. To end the fixture on a winning note, Shivam Dube and Rinku Singh stitched a 42-run partnership.



Batting all-rounder Shivam Dube was adjudged the 'Player of the Match' for his sublime 60 runs unbeaten knock in Mohali. 



Team India had made a couple of changes walking into the India vs Afghanistan 1st T20I. Veteran batter Virat Kohli was unavailable for the fixture. Furthermore, left-arm opener Yashasvi Jaiswal wasn't completely fit and was not available. The BCCI in a statement during the match informed that Jaiswal has a sore right groin and hence not playing the game.



Both the players are likely to be available for the India vs Afghanistan 2nd T20I in Indore.

It seems like Shubman Gill isn't India's first-choice player to open the innings along with captain Rohit Sharma. The team has preferred to go with Yashasvi Jaiswal. It can be noted that the Indian side is also looking to have a left-hand right-hand opening combination and Jaiswal fits into that criteria well.



If fit and available, Yashasvi Jaiswal could replace Shubman Gill in the opening place and open the innings with captain Rohit Sharma in the 2nd T20I against Afghanistan.



Seasoned batter Virat Kohli is also expected to be fit for the game and hence he would be India's first-choice player to hold the number 3 position.

IND vs AFG 2nd T20I: After comfortably capping off the 1st T20I by six wickets in Mohali, Team India will square off against Afghanistan in the second game of the three-match T20I series in Indore on January 14. The contest will be staged in Indore's Holkar Stadium, starting at 7:00 PM IST.



The Men in Blue spearheaded by Rohit Sharma rode on the back of comprehensive performance from all its players to defeat Afghanistan in the opening fixture in Mohali. The Indian bowling unit kept things tight right from the start and didn't give away too many easy runs to the Afghans.



Afghanistan's top order got decent starts to their innings, but couldn't capitalise on that. Later in the innings, all-rounder Mohammad Nabi played a 42-run knock in just 27 deliveries to take his side to a decent total (158 runs) on a proper batting surface.



In the pursuit of the modest total, Team India lost its skipper for a duck owing to a mixup between the two openers. However, the partnerships began to build as the innings progressed. 



Shivam Dube remained the pick of the players for India as he mustered an unbeaten 60-run score in just 40 deliveries to take India home along with a wicket. Jitesh Sharma also contributed with his decent 31-run knock.



Notably, Team India had a couple of forced changes in the playing11 during the first T20I in Mohali. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal wasn't available due to a sore groin and Virat Kohli was out for personal reasons. However, the two players are expected to be available for selection in the 2nd T20I against Afghanistan on Sunday (January 14, 2024).

Indian captain Rohit Sharma is likely to open the innings along with left-arm opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, who missed the first game after not pulling up well. The southpaw will replace Shubman Gill in the playing11. Jaiswal's presence will provide Team India with a left-hand-right-hand opening combination, which is considered ideal.



Meanwhile, with Kohli available, he will be slotted at his regular number three position in the team, replacing Tilak Varma. Although Varma did decent in the opening games, he hasn't been able to grab the opportunities thrown at him with both his hands open.



The rest of the playing11 is anticipated to remain the same for the 2nd T20I. Kohli will be followed by Shivam Dube, Jitesh Sharma and Rinku Singh. 



For the spin bowling all-rounder's option, the team will have the services of Axar Patel and Washington Sundar. The two will be paired with young Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh and Mukesh Kumar to form the bowling department.

IND vs AFG: In a fanboy moment, a young Virat Kohli fan breached the security parameters at the Holkar Stadium in Indore and went straight into the ground to meet his idol. He hugged Virat Kohli and touched his feet before he was handled by the cops. The intruder was later detained by the Madhya Pradesh Police and interrogated.



The intruder interrupted the game during Afghanistan's innings when Virat Kohli was patrolling the boundaries. The fan was taken into custody and the further course of action will be decided after the interrogation.

Team India chased down the 172-run target posed by Afghanistan in just 15.4 overs owing to the magnificent innings played by Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shivam Dube. While Jaiswal scored 68 runs off 38 deliveries, Dube remained unbeaten at 63 runs off 32 deliveries. 



With the win, Team India bagged the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan by winning the first two games on the trot. The third T20I will be held in Bengaluru's M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
