IND vs ENG: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selectors have decided to have a discussion with veteran Indian batter Virat Kohli over the issue of his return to the test side ahead of the IND vs ENG 3rd Test. Kohli, who is unavailable for the first two tests against England, is expected to make a return in the 3rd test,



Virat Kohli stated "personal reasons" and pulled out of the opening two test matches against England in Hyderabad and Vishakhapatnam. He informed the BCCI and the Indian captain Rohit Sharma that "while representing the country has always been his top priority, certain personal situations demand his presence and undivided attention."



The BCCI, in a statement release confirming Virat's decision, asked the fans not to intrude on Virat Kohli's personal space and refrain from speculating anything.



While there were many rumours in the market speculating why Virat Kohli isn't available for selection, AB de Villers, who is a close friend, made a big revelation which marked an end to all the possibilities of speculations.



Former South African cricketer, AB de Villiers, during his Q&amp;A session on his Youtube channel during the 2nd India vs England test, revealed that Virat Kohli is expected his second child and therefore he wants to spend some time with his family.

"Yes, his second child is on the way. It's family time and things are important to him. If you are not true and genuine to yourself, you lose track of what you are here for. While de Villiers' remarks made the picture clear for the fans, the remarks also indicated uncertainty over Virat's position on resumption of the national duty. Earlier, Virat was expected to be available for the test selection for the 3rd IND vs ENG test onwards, but nothing is clear as such.



Seeking clarity over his return, the Indian selectors led by Ajit Agarkar are likely to have a word with Virat Kohli, who is currently out of the country. A report in published in PTI informed that to have a clear picture, the selectors will discuss Kohli's return.



"Family comes first as BCCI's press release stated and Virat will only play if he feels that he is in a position to play," a <a href="https://www.bcci.tv/">BCCI</a> source in Know of Things told PTI on conditions of anonymity.



Meanwhile, the IND vs ENG 3rd Test is set to begin on February 15 in Rajkot. The two teams will have an 8-day break before the third test. Currently, the 2nd IND vs ENG test is underway in Vishakhapatnam. As the third innings get underway on Day 3, Team India leads with 239 runs.

IND vs ENG: After having enough discourses among the fans and cricket experts as to whether the Indian management should consider resting Jasprit Bumrah for the upcoming 3rd Test match against England, recent reports have indicated that the BCCI may not necessarily rest the ace pacer for the Rajkot Test. However there are still many possibilities as the selection of India's squad is yet to be done, which is expected to be concluded in a day's time.



As per the reports, Jasprit Bumrah, who has been on the roll since December 26, 2023, is likely to be rested for the 3rd India vs England test, which is scheduled to be held in Rajkot, starting February 15. However, these reports took a U-turn as they indicated that due to the nature of the surface in Rajkot, which offers substantially more to the pacers, the BCCI might not rest Jasprit Bumrah.



Along with not resting Jasprit Bumrah for the test, these reports also pointed out that Mohammad Siraj could be brought back into the side and paired alongside Bumrah for the fixture.



The surface in Rajkot's Saurashtra Cricket Stadium has historically aided pacers more than the spinners. Due to the nature of the surface, the team may retain Jasprit Bumrah for the third test and his workload will be managed afterwards as the five-match test series head to Ranchi and Dharmshala.



So far, Bumrah has bowled close to 60 overs in the first two tests against England in Hyderabad and Vishakhapatnam. Only R Ashwin has bowled more than Bumrah (80). Moreover, he has been the top wicket-taker for the team with 15 wickets at an exceptional average of 10. 



Keeping in mind the impact he makes, it would be challenging for the Indian leadership to bench him for a game. Much of that would be made clear once the <a href="https://bcci.tv">BCCI</a> announce India's Test Squad for the last 3 test matches.

In some positive news from the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, wicketkeeper batter KL Rahul is likely to be cleared to play the third test in Rajkot. Rahul, who suffered a right quadriceps injury during the first test, was ruled out of the 2nd test in Vishakhapatnam. The batter went to the NCA to treat his injury and is now likely to be available for the remainder of the test series.



Meanwhile, the selection of Ravindra Jadeja hinges on the assessment of his hamstring by the medical team at the NCA. Notably, Ravindra Jadeja too suffered injury during the first test and was immediately withdrawn from the 2nd game of the series.

IND vs ENG 3rd Test: Indian captain Rohit Sharma seemingly lost his cool after a horrible mix-up between Ravindra Jadeja and Sarfaraz Khan got the latter batter out on his debut innings. Rohit Sharma expressed his frustration, as Mark Wood inflicted a brilliant run out to break the threatening partnership towards the end of day 1 of the ongoing IND vs ENG 3rd test.



Sarfaraz Khan's impressing out at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot was cut short by Ravindra Jadeja, whose blunder made the debutant sacrifice his wicket. 



The incident happened in the 82nd over when Ravindra Jadeja was batting at 99 runs. Jadeja drove the fifth delivery of the over towards mid-on, where Mark Wood was stationed. As soon as Jadeja drove the ball, he took a couple of steps to steal the run but, backed out and turned down the single. However, by then Sarfaraz Khan, who was at the non-striker's end, was well outside his crease and couldn't make it back to the popping crease as Wood threw the ball and uprooted the stumps.



Sarfaraz Khan's unfortunate dismissal left everyone in shock as the batter was having a brilliant outing in his debut game. Everyone, including his parents and supporters, was disappointed looking at how the debutant had to walk back. The reactions from the dressing room also came as soon as the run-out was inflicted by Mark Wood.



Indian skipper Rohit Sharma lost his cool in the dressing room, as seen in the video footage and was seen flinging his cap in disgust following the run-out.

Notably, Ravindra Jadeja, who was batting beautifully till then went into the shell when he came close to his 90s. The all-rounder, though, took 200 balls to score his 4th test ton, he almost took an age to complete the last 10 runs of the three-figure milestone. 



The famous sword celebration of Jadeja was seen as he completed the last run for his century, but Sarfaraz's wicket took off its sheen. Nevertheless, credit where it's due.

Indian Team scored 326 runs on Day 1 of the third test match in Rajkot but they failed to make partnerships on Day 2 therefore India got all out by scoring just 445 runs. Ravindra Jadeja scored 112 runs in 225 balls with nine fours and two sixes whereas Dhruv Jurel and Ravichandran Ashwin scored 46 and 37 runs, respectively in India's first inning.

Many thought that Junior Pandya will replace Rohit as the captain in limited overs formats. 
However, ever since Gautam Gambhir was appointed as the new head coach of the Men in Blue, things have gone all wrong for Pandya. Suryakumar Yadav was given the T20 captaincy duties, which was a complete gamble. Moreover, the 31-year-old was not even considered for the role of the vice-captain. 
He was the Vice-captain in the T20 World Cup of 2024 but, he was stripped off that role too. Under the leadership of Hardik, the Indian Team have taken part in 16 T20 International matches, securing wins in 11 matches out of those 16 contests. Out of four T20 International series, Hardik helped the Indian team win three.

Prithvi Shaw did not find any takers as the Mumbai batter went unsold in the IPL 2025 auction. Prithvi, who had a base price of Rs 75 lakh in the auction, was released by Delhi Capitals but he did not attract any bids from the ten franchises.
Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal has said that Prithvi Shaw is misunderstood in many ways but needed a 'jolt' in the form of the IPL 2025 Auction snub. Shaw has been part of the Delhi franchise since returning as the U-19 World Cup winning captain in 2018 and was bought for 1.2 Crores. Ahead of the 2022 auction, the Mumbai batter was retained by DC for Rs. 7.5 Crore but the past few seasons hasn't been great for the 25-year-old.
Speaking to Sports Today, Jindal said that Shaw is a great kid but needed a jolt to get up from his slumber. The DC co-owner feels that Shaw needs to work hard, get back the love of the game and get disciplined. Jindal ended by saying he hopes the Mumbai batter can return back to his best form
Delhi has backed Prithvi Shaw a lot. DC had hoped that he is a powerplay player and would hit 6 boundaries in one over. And he did that too. He hit Shivam Mavi for 6 fours in an over. In the 79 matches he has played, Shaw has scored 1892 runs at an average of 23.95 and a strike-rate of 147.47. He also scored 14 fifties during this time.

Prithvi shaw is just 25 and has lot of cricket left inside him ,the thing he need that to focus on his fitness and batting weakness. 
If the things goes well, not the next year but shaw will probably get chance to play in IPL this year too,if any team needs replacement for player ,he might be a good to get that place.

The MI Emirates produced a clinical display with the bat and the ball, handing the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders a 28-run defeat at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in the Match 14 of International League T20 (ILT20) 2025 on Tuesday, January 21.
MI Emirates got off to a strong start when they were asked to bat first, with openers Muhammad Waseem (38) and Kusal Perera making a strong stand at the top. The Sri Lankan Perera was the first to leave for 23 soon before the powerplay ended, following a 42-run partnership between the two players. Tom Banton entered, and he and Waseem made sure the MI Emirates maintained the run rate.
Banton was out for nine around the halfway point of the innings, while Waseem was out for 38 shortly after. Kieron Pollard replaced skipper Nicholas Pooran, but the seasoned right-hander struggled to get going and was eventually sent out for five by Ali Khan. With just over 6 overs remaining, the score was at 102/4.
Following Dan Mousley's dismissal for six, Romario Shepherd joined his skipper for the innings' last stretch. Jason Holder made a solid 49, but Pooran, who was hitting it cleanly, was almost at his half-century before he fell.

Shepherd was given more attention in the last few overs as a result. Hopes of a recovery were raised when Sunil Narine and Andre Russell were called to the middle and embarked on a half-century stand.
But Narine was caught at cover for 13 in the 18th over, and David Willey was dismissed by Fazalhaq Farooqi in the 19th. The MI Emirates won easily, and Russell, who was still undefeated at 37 from 23 deliveries, was unable to lead his team across the finish line.
