Asia Cup 2023: The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has announced the schedule of Asia Cup 2023. A total of 6 teams will participate in the Asia Cup and a total of 13 matches will be played between these teams. KL Rahul likely to be ruled out of Asia Cup 2023: In a fresh blow to the Indian team, wicketkeeper batter KL Rahul has suffered a fresh niggle and is likely to be ruled out of the initial phase of the Asia Cup 2023. The development was confirmed by chief Indian selector Ajit Agarkar during the press conference, earlier today.



The chief selector, Ajit Agarkar confirmed that KL Rahul has suffered a fresh injury setback over the last few days. Although he claimed that the fresh niggle isn't related to KL Rahul's hamstring injury issue and there is nothing serious to worry about, the right-handed batter could miss the early phase of the Asia Cup 2023, which will begin on August 30 in Pakistan.



KL Rahul, along with Shreyas Iyer, are nursing their respective injuries at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. While Rahul underwent surgery to mend his troubling hamstring, Shreyas Iyer went under the surgical knife to cure a back issue. Both aforementioned batters have been undergoing multiple match simulations at the NCA in the recent past to test their match fitness. 



In an encouraging development, while, Shreyas Iyer was deemed completely fit by the medical team at the NCA, as mentioned by Ajit Agarkar during the press conference, KL Rahul was learnt to develop a fresh niggle.



Notably, Team India's Asia Cup 2023 announcement mostly revolved around the fitness of these two mentioned cricketers. Since the past few weeks, there were many speculations around the fitness of the two batters.



However, as things stand clear, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer have been included in India's 17-men strong squad for the Asia Cup 2023.



As a precaution, the BCCI has put wicketkeeper batter Sanju Samson as a backup for KL Rahul, who will accelerate his recovery process from the fresh niggle.



?Shreyas has been declared completely fit. Rahul, in the last few days, not his original injury, has incurred a niggle which is why Sanju will be travelling with the team. But the physio...I'm sure there will be an official statement, but we are at some stage expecting him to be completely fit if not at the start of the Asia Cup, but in the second or the third game. But he is well on track,? said the BCCI chief selector.

Asia Cup 2023: India has become the latest team to announce its strong 17-member squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on August 21, named the Indian squad for the tournament. Earlier, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal had announced their squads for the Asia Cup 2023. Pakistan was the first team to name its squad for the continental tournament, which begins on August 30 in Multan. Pakistan will take on Nepal in the tournament opener at Multan Cricket Stadium.

The design of the jersey draws inspiration from the intricate motifs found inside the Vijay Stambh (Victory Tower) at Chittorgarh which show the history of rajasthan.
This historic tower, a testament to the valor and unity of the Rajput forces led by King Rana Kumbha, symbolizes the spirit of “Unity in Diversity” – a value deeply resonant with the ethos of Rajasthan Royals.
The jersey’s design reflects this legacy, blending traditional elements with a contemporary aesthetic to create a striking representation of pride and heritage.

5. Steve Smith (AUS)
Steve Smith is one of the best test batters that the game has seen in the last decade or so. He started his career as a leg-spinner and batted at no. 8 in his first game. But here, he is among the greatest of all time. Smith recently reached the 10,000-run mark in the first test against Sri Lanka in Galle in his 205th innings. He has scored 10,038* runs in 205 innings at an average of almost 56 with 34 centuries and 42 half-centuries.
4. Ricky Ponting (AUS)
Former Australian captain was the best captain that the game has seen. He retired with four ICC trophies. Ponting also retired with the second-most runs in test cricket, and he is the fourth-fastest overall, having done it in 196 innings. Ponting played 168 tests between 1995 and 2012 and scored 13,378 runs at an average of 51.85. He scored 41 centuries and 62 half-centuries with a best of 257.
3. Kumar Sangakkara (SL)
Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara was an underrated batter, but his numbers are certainly mind-boggling. He retired with the most runs and centuries for Sri Lanka in international cricket. The Southpaw also holds the record for the second-most test double hundreds (11) after Sir Don Bradman (12). Sangakkara reached 10,000 test runs in his 195th innings. He played 134 tests and scored 12,400 runs at an average of 57.40 and the best of 319. The Southpaw scored 38 centuries and 52 half-centuries in total.
2. Sachin Tendulkar (IND)
The legendary Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar is the second-fastest batter overall. Sachin retired with the most runs, centuries, half-centuries, and matches in test cricket history. That tells something about his longevity. Sachin played 200 tests and scored 15921 runs at an average of 53.78 and a best of 248 not out. He scored 51 centuries and 68 half-centuries and reached 10,000 runs in his 195th test innings.
1. Brian Lara (WI)
Brian Lara was one of the best batters that West Indies produced in this game. The left-hander holds the record for the highest test individual score and is the only batter to cross the 370-run mark twice in an innings. Lara reached 10,000 test runs in the 195th innings. Overall, he scored 11953 runs in 131 tests at an average of 52.88, with 34 centuries and 48 half-centuries.

After winning the first two matches, Team India came down to the floor as England hammered the hosts by 26 runs in the third game in Rajkot to keep their hopes alive in the ongoing five-match T20I series. India are still leading with a 2-1 margin, with two more games to play.
The fourth match will be played at MCA Stadium in Pune on January 31. If India win that game, they will also win the series as well. But it won't be easy, as England came with proper plans against Indian batters and executed them perfectly. So what should India do to win the fourth match? Here we will talk about three changes that India can make for the fourth T20I.

1. Bring in Specialist batter
India have made sure that they are going with depth in the batting in all three games, which is why they have picked up 3-4 all-rounders in the team. Because of limited overs, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, or Abhishek Sharma have not been able to bowl their full quota of four overs.
Axar and Sundar are even batting way down the order, which is not coming in use for India. That is where, India should bring in a specialist batter, or they can pick Shivam Dube in place of Sundar. He can play useful cameos for the team.
2. Bring in Arshdeep Singh
As seen in the last two games, Indian spinners have taken wickets in the middle order, but it is the lower order, or tailenders, who are scoring crucial runs for England, which have made a big impact. Though Hardik is doing a great job of containing the batters, India need wickets.
That is where India made the wrong decision of dropping Arshdeep Singh in the third game. He gives early wickets and also takes wickets in death overs. So, India can drop one extra spinner and bring in Arshdeep Singh for the fourth game.
3. Change in the batting order
Having a lot of batting options can also become a headache sometimes. That is what it looks like that India are having at the moment. No doubt, England seamers are bowling well, according to the plans. But India can try out some out-of-the-box things to force England to change their plans.
India can send someone as pinch-hitters as India used Dube and Axar a few times in the T20 World Cup 2024. Samson and Suryakumar are not scoring runs, and India can look to do changes in the batting order.
